Yes. Many places even go by zip code. How are we supposed to be at ease with poor info?

You shouldn’t be at ease. Just because one zip code, which could be a few blocks in a sense city of many miles in an isolated county, has infected people in it, does not mean the source of infection is there too.

I know what it means, Mark. Quarantine, from the Italian word ‘quarantina’ (which literally translates as forty days) was used to protect sea port towns from ships carrying passengers during the black plague. It is defined as “a state, period, or place of isolation in which people or animals that have arrived from elsewhere or been exposed to infectious or contagious disease are placed.”

You’re correct Mark. We never have quarantined. Our borders are still open. We have been accepting travelers from all over the globe. I believe that’s why they refer to it being a “shelter in place” order. We have also been at this for more than 40 days. I don’t believe that our “leaders” care about public safety anymore. They haven’t given us consistent information regarding ppe usage and efficacy, they can’t tell us the specific criteria for moving forward, and they are suggesting that we accept the idea of this being a “new normal.” This is a virus. All of history has had to deal with occurances of disease outbreaks at some time or another. Are we supposed to believe that this time is different?

Unfortunately, I think that we are being manipulated by fear. To what end? I don’t know. But they have already stolen $3+ trillion of your money as “relief.” With Ms. Pelosi proposing to take another $10 trillion for our state alone. How much longer are we going to tolerate these actions and how much more in debt are you willing to burden future generations incomes for unknown results?

Well said. I keep coming back to this quote… neither option is reassuring :

“Sometimes I wonder if the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it.”

This puts the economic disaster dear leaders are creating for us and future generations :

If you are concerned about the national debt the president could care less. He was well on his way to the biggest debt increase in history when covid hit. The only time republicans care about debt is when democrats are in the white house. Care to take a guess who the last president to end his term with a surplus was ?

Calvin Coolidge.

Every president since has added to the debt. You were probably thinking Clinton, but he added 32% to the debt. Don’t confuse deficit with debt.

You are correct. I recall some years back I read that every dime of federal income tax collected west of the Mississippi goes to pay interest on the debt.

It’s one of the reasons the Fed has kept interest rates low. If they raised the rate the government couldn’t afford to service the debt.

That is why debt based banking is so screwed up. We really need to get rid of the federal reserve AGAIN. Going back to a gold standard seems ideal, but I have no idea how that transitional period would transpire or what the end result would be.

I don’t think the US will ever go back to the gold standard. I do see the adoption of SDR as the standard for fiat value once they are done collapsing the value of the US dollar.

And the numbers are up everywhere in this country and the world. Are we taking this pandemic too lightly? It still has very sharp teeth.

Well all I know is around 30% of the customers in Garberville’s Ray’s market weren’t wearing masks yesterday. Also they had had no idea what 6 feet distancing was or just didn’t give a shit about the rest of us. Same with shop smart. I wear my mask in consideration of others. Bunch of assholes. Whole lot of foreigners looking for work. Please hire local..

Yep ….had a customer come in yesterday and said she started into Rays but left because of what you stated. Unless you have someone watching the door its hard to get a handle on the crowd. At our store no mask no entry. Distancing is more problematic. Can’t determine who are friends or family, Can’t distance kids from parents or escort. I will say that most customers are just glad we’re open and willingly comply. Haven’t had anybody start ranting about their constitutional rights.
