Mendocino County Positive Tests Increased From 15 to 21 Cases, ‘Increasing Our Numbers by Almost 50%”

novel coronavirus Covid-19 MendocinoInformation from the Mendocino County Public Health:

Today Mendocino County went from 15 to 21 cases, increasing our numbers by almost 50%. At the same time we are entering a holiday weekend, with new Sheltering-In-Place Orders coming into effect that will allow further opening of many businesses. Businesses must implement new social distancing and business safety protocols to safely reopen. This is a critical moment in the pandemic for our County, and compliance with the safety and social distancing measures in our Health Orders are essential to keeping us safe. Even one non-compliant event can cause an outbreak of COVID-19, which could force the County to revert to stricter orders to save lives. As a reminder lodging (hotel, motels, campgrounds etc.) are closed for tourism and leisure for all people (for County residents and visitors). Posters and infographics have been released today on our County website (www.mendocinocounty.org) to help businesses and residents stay safe during this pandemic. Businesses are encouraged to visit www.mendocinocountybusiness.org for information on creating a business reopening plan.

The 6 new cases are from the 337 tests from the Redwood Valley surveillance testing on May 19, 2020. All positive cases have been notified and are in isolation at home with close contacts in quarantine. Case investigation and contact tracing is underway. Of the 6 cases, all 6 cases have been confirmed as connected to the outbreak at Redwood Valley Assembly of God. Anyone who has been in recent contact with this church who hasn’t been tested should seek testing. If you are sick please contact your medical provider. Free testing for those without symptoms can be accessed at the County’s OptumServe testing site in Ukiah at the Redwood Empire Fairgrounds. Appointments can be made online at https://lhi.care/covidtesting or by phone at (888) 634-1123. Testing is available Tuesday – Saturday from 12:30 pm – 7:00 pm.

Hope that anybody who attended that gathering against the rules is held accountable! Unbelievable!

What rules were broken?

Last I heard, it was a virtual service with only the original 3 positive cases in attendance. There was even mention that the video shows they were at least trying to socially distance from each other.

Is there new information the gathering broke the rules?

If it was virtual then no one was in attendance.

“Despite warnings that singing raises the risk of spreading coronavirus, three people at a California church belted it out at a Mother’s Day service that was livestreamed online for congregants.”

“A health order from Mendocino County allows churches to open for only enough people to record or livestream a service, but singing is discouraged. Any singing that is required is supposed to be done under social distancing guidelines and, if possible, behind separations like Plexiglass.”

My God! It’s 6 positive tests!

Quit trying to make it into a disaster!

Oh, and 6 more than 15, isn’t a 50% increase.

How many people have been exposed, are now recovered, and never knew? Up to 45% of the “infected” are asymptomatic.

Any antibody studies or antibody tests being done, in Mendo?

Don’t fear the virus, fear the phony news…

I agree shouldn’t they get sited for breaking the county. What’s the point of the restrictions if when people clearly and willing break it and aren’t held accountable

Of course not, but they’re so accustomed to inflating the numbers it’s become a visceral reaction.

A 50% increase from 15 would add 7.5 cases. Mendo has a 40% increase if they cared for accuracy.

If we wanted the numbers to work out, what would we do in order to get that 0.5 person?

The question is what do the numbers mean. Here the county has had relatively low numbers and now almost 3 months in after paying strict attention to distancing and sheltering in place, the numbers are rising. Who is okay with that. This is not a joke, it is not a prank or a political football. You want to die? Go ahead, just please don’t kill me or someone I care about. Stay home, stay masked, stay distanced!

Whatever. More cases. Shocking. Yawn.

The COVID (the 19th strain) virus is out there. The VAST MAJORITY can treat it like the flu and call out sick if or when symptoms are obvious. Let it circulate!

The at risk demographic should take extraordinary precautions and shelter.

Leave the rest of us along to get on with the business of life and supporting the tax base.

It’s CoVid 19 because it first appeared in 2019, not because it is the 19th strain. I for one don’t take advice from people who don’t know the facts!

It’s not that simple. This can kill children and render healthy younger folks with no underlying medical conditions into ICU and respirator usage. Here a dude who is 44, works as a nurse, and is clearly in better shape than any of us keyboard warriors, nearly died from COVID-19 and was in ICU for more than four weeks.

I just want to say, that we are lucky not to have thosands of cases, and, very lucky that our hospitals haven’t been closed, because everyone who works there, and everyone in the streets and forests, has been:

SCARED TO DEATH!

Stress kills! There is no antidote for irrational fear [edit]
