  • Recipients included The Betty Kwan Chinn Homeless Foundation and Food for People

The Bear River Band of the Rohnerville Rancheria and Bear River Casino Resort located in Loleta, California donated $2,000 to help support The Betty Kwan Chinn Homeless Foundation and Food for People. The Tribe recognizes the importance of these organizations and the crucial roles they play in our community, especially during these difficult times:

JOSEFINA CORTEZ, TRIBAL CHAIRWOMAN OF THE BEAR RIVER BAND’S TRIBAL COUNCIL SAID: “The Bear River Band of the Rohnerville Rancheria wishes to thank all of those who are on the front lines serving the needs of our community. It is with great honor that we may be able to support our local organizations with these donations and further assist in the growth and well-being of our neighbors and friends.”

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, both the Tribe and Casino have developed community support initiatives designed to help those that are most affected. They have delivered pizzas to essential businesses with pizzas purchased from local establishments, donated meals to Tribal Members and made donations to local organizations.

The donations made to Food for People and The Betty Kwan Chinn Homeless Foundation will be used to help continue their efforts to feed community members. Bear River is proud to call Humboldt our home and family and looks forward to continuing to serve our community.

considering the casino creates poverty, to see them give some of the money back to homeless people who potentially have gambling and substance abuse issues is a joke.

The Indian casinos pimp out poor white folks and turn them into drug addicts and broke penny less loosers.
Its time to close the Indian casinos we don’t need these poverty machines around here.
