Good News! We Got a Grant and Will Be Able to Cover COVID-19’s Effect on our Communities Even More Thoroughly

Facebook Journalism Project

[Photo from the Facebook Journalism Project]

Yesterday, Facebook notified us that we would be getting the entire grant we applied for through its Facebook Journalism Project COVID-19 Local News Relief Fund Grant Program--$44,215!

We applied for that money to go directly to stories for you, our readers. Every cent will translate into either photos or words that will inform you about what’s happening in our community during this crisis.

We’re so excited about bringing you increased content!

Meet the other local newsrooms that have been chosen by clicking here. A special shout out to the Mendocino Voice and Two Rivers Tribune who are other small, local outlets whose communities will benefit from the grant.

As we all continue to bring you high-quality news, your support has never been more important. Please consider donating today. You can donate to Redheaded Blackbelt by clicking on the donate button below.

To the Mendocino Voice, by clicking here. Or reach out to Two Rivers Tribune here.

Note: If you are photographers interested in documenting for history this incredible time (think a series of photos showing people-or things–that are acting differently during this crisis) or writers interested in covering COVID related topics, email us here- [email protected] – and pitch your ideas.

Sorry. Facebook is a governing entity, just as oil companies and pharmaceuticals are a government entity, let’s not fool ourselves. Facebook is SkyNet. SkyNet is Facebook. Congrats though kym!

Well, what I think, (because we should all have a voice and it should matter) is that facebook is a spy ops program by the elites to make more money. It has even been said that Mark Zuckeburg name which means in german “sugar mountain” is actually Jason Greenburg, and he is the grandson of David Rockefeller, a rich oil tycoon that actually owned the federal reserve. Also related to none other than our freind, vaccine maker Bill Gates. How wonderful they are coming together in this “crisis”. Apparently, facebook was created as a freindly cover to spy on most aspects of society, and even benifit in profit from such discovery. Hopefully, anyone that gets money from these people take it and run, with no strings attached! Hopefully they won’t require censorship as collateral for this wonderful platform! If they do, refund the money and tell the story, the community may well be a better fund than elite prying EYE!

Congratulations “Snowball”. Running a blogsite like yours must be “Hell” at times. However, you are very much appreciated. I’m not sure where our community would be without you.

I must amend my opinion of Facebook. They opened a door for us, unfortunately while the door was open they have slipped too many things that we don’t want back through it. It becomes a full time job just to manage it, otherwise it manages you.

I am smiling to myself right now, thinking of you wondering how you will be spending the money fairly, while fulfilling the goals for which it was intended. I know that you worry too much.

A very warm thank you… you deserve it.

Yay!!! Well deserved.

Website feedback: (since someone might be tweeking it)

1. Search button imo is hard to locate white on white in the middle of everything ….

2. I would enjoy if “recent posts” in red at the bottom could have a “see more ” button rather than having to pull up news feed on your home page to read older stories .

….A “see more” button in the comments feed at the bottom might be fun too.

I live in the suburbs of Igo. My news source for the country I grew up in is Redheaded Blackbelt. Shasta County news does not report much past the Shasta Trinity line.

Kym,

You really do deserve all the respect an admiration you are receiving.
I hope you take a minute to bask in the applause because you’ve truly earned it.

There is no where else to get such up to date info. & opinion, especially with such fair minded host that has a light touch while moderating. It is especially appreciated by those with whom you disagree. ( like me! )

Thanks for all you do.

incorrect about being in a pandemic, incorrect about me wanting employees paid well, incorrect about me being concerned with how you spend your $ – that is typical spin. Humboldtians aren’t blind.
