Press release from the County of Humboldt:

California Governor Gavin Newsom further clarified the state’s Stay-at-Home Order in a series of posts and statements yesterday, though many of the activities mentioned are already allowed in Humboldt County.

Clarifications to essential services pertain to real estate, bicycle shops and faith-based social services. A summary is listed below.

  • Real estate: Residential and commercial real estate workers are limited to scheduled property viewings to a potential buying party. This does not extend to open-house viewings, nor viewings with more than one buying party at a time.
  • Bicycle sales and services: Clarified as an essential service.
  • Faith-based social services: Services for seniors, people experiencing homelessness, those with substance use disorders and those with behavioral health needs are clarified as essential services.

Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Teresa Frankovich said, “While we are still awaiting more clarification, the governor indicated that outdoor activities that are done solo or at most with two individuals other than household members, will be allowed under his order.”

Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal said, “This is a step in the right direction as we prepare to move into the next phase of COVID-19 response. Humboldt County residents have been doing a great job of practicing responsible social distancing, and I encourage members of the community to keep it up while enjoying the outdoors.”

Social distancing measures include wearing facial coverings in shared indoor spaces other than the home, using facial coverings outdoors when within 6 feet of others, maintaining spacing of 6 feet or more from others at all times unless they are members of your household, frequently handwashing or using hand sanitizer and staying home when ill. “These measures will be more, not less important, as we begin to spend more time outside our homes during the coming weeks and months,” Dr. Frankovich said.

  • Omg here it comes.. Every little detailed bit of control.. Its rediculous.. Lets makes little rules for everything people can do… Sounds like jail.. Too many books! Too many people.. Everyone who lays down and accepts is a brainwashed sheep

  • It is good that Newsom is listening to and following Trump’s call. Newsom has come out and said as recently as two days ago what a great job our president is doing, and has given him everything he has asked for, and more. Trump sent in the two hospital ships, one to calif. So glad he is our president.

    • 🕯🌳He’s not listening to ” not my potus ” he’s listening to you and all the other people that want to go out and see if they are Wolverine’s. I think we will slide through the summer and have nasty fire season ( hopefully not) but NASA&NOAA are still predicting another event like last summer again hopefully not.📡🚀🇺🇸🇺🇸

    • Still drinking the koolaid huh..

      • 🕯🌳At least I’m not injecting disinfectant and eating UV bulbs. Now he won’t even let Fauci tell Congress that “not my potus ” knew about it in January and waited until what late February middle of March before he did anything. He still hasn’t offered any prayers or condolences for those that have died. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

        • Bigus Upsetus

Why are you complaining, I thought the world was over populated? Oh, it’s an election year and Mrs. William Jefferson Clinton is waiting in the wings.

        • Your head is so shoved up your butt you can see light ..you r the problem not the solution ..Trump 2020

    • Put him in prison

Gruesome Newsom was about to get dragged out of office so he better listen. He will never serve in office again, he’s a damn criminal and needs to go to prison for accepting kick backs and Bill and Melinda gates money. Damn sickos….everyone of them

    • Yeah, he’s doing a helluva job! By putting his golfing buddy in charge of the CDC you’re gonna see a major uptick in deaths come July. This administration is riddled with incompetence, but sure, ignore facts and keep on with the ‘happy talk’. This virus will continue to thin out the ‘stupid gene pool’!

  • Scared of fire and dying from the flu? Any other phobias? Aliens or Trump?

    • I’m not scared of dying from the flu or fire, but I do have Arachibutyrophobia, Globophobia, Chaetophobia, Anatidaephobia, Pteridophobia, Geniophobia, and Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia.

      Life’s not easy.

  • All I can say is I see no gray roots or outgrown nail tips on any politician. So they are breaking their own law.

    • Cept they arent laws.. Laws must be made in the courts to have cases to refer to them right? Its authoritarianism at its best.. We all are literally living like these elected officials and non elected “public” health officsers dont work FOR US. We foot the bill… Id like to know what frankovitch makes..

    • Fire is a very REAL horror and leveler. Pray for Rain!!!🌧 for the previous comment about drought, is so Sane. Only a fool messes with Mother Nature, Covid19, yep, see. Ignorance seems to Rule the Day, yet it dies, in the End, Friend.☯️🦋

  • Effing hilarious and ridiculous at the same time.

  • So I can practice Tai Chi in the center of the Arcata Plaza, where our beloved President McKinley reigned for generations, but I can’t surf on a coast line where if I can hear you babbling at me then you are too close.

  • Badminton singles?!

  • I am 77 years old and diabetic.. If I get covid, I will not survive.. While you great patriots go to rallies, I’ll just stay home and wait for the vaccine.. Anyone who thinks this has peaked in Humboldt is dreaming..

    • Ben,

You are right to social distance, but a 20 year old has nothing to fear. We must protect you sir, but those who are not in a high risk catagory need to carry on working providing a tax base so you can live with the world you know around you.

The more healthy people who get this virus (and the vast majorly have no symptomology) the sooner we get to herd immunity which also protects you as the virus “burns out” naturally.

We must do this for the greater good.

      • The idea that others owe you a feeling of security creates a endlessly increasing burden on those not feeling insecure. No one who relies on others is ever going to feel secure whether it is about income, services, crime, health or anything. Making people feel secure is chasing a mirage that vanishes as it’s approached but exhausts the chasers in the attempt.

  • Princess Leah

Wait a minute… The state is just now allowing these activities but they have already been allowed in Humboldt previous to this?

I thought the state order provided the baseline did not allow anything less stringent. Are you telling me we have been breaking the law all along?

What a bunch of rebels we are.

  • I don’t need the governor to tell me what I can do!!!!

    TRUMP 2020

creepy BIDEN is to busy getting fat salaries for relatives from Russia & China

  • Some Random Guy on the Internet
  • This is ridiculous! We can have Yoga but not Church services! Are you serious? Yoga=sweat
    6 ft. distancing at Church.
Unbelievable! We need our Communion, it’s our FOOD!
