Protesters Angry at Stay-at-Home Orders Gather Near the Humboldt County Courthouse Today

As state and county governments seek to fight the novel cornavirus with laws designed to keep people apart, a small crowd of about 50 people gathered in front of the Humboldt County courthouse just before noon today to protest the orders.

A number of drivers passing by on 5th Street beeped support.

In spite of an order requiring facial coverings when standing closer than 6 feet, most of those gathered are not wearing masks.

Last week, after protests at the State Capitol, the California Highway Patrol banned similar gatherings there as the agency said that the group didn’t follow health directives.

Supervisors Rex Bohn and Virgina Bass are at the protest.

30,000,000 workers put out in the streets, to thrive on unemployment!

A new record!

Great idea, social distancing/stay at home!

OH! Have YOU received your “stimulus payment”?

I haven’t…

Mel

I have received my stimulus, and more importantly I am staying at home! Also wearing my mask wherever I go and so should everyone! I was shopping yesterday and happened to meet a older man who was very scared about being out in public as he just got done with chemo last week and as I look around I see two younger ladies without masks and it made me fearful for him as well. I asked the girls very nicely why they weren’t wearing masks? They said they forgot them in the car so I gestured to the man I spoke to and explained how he was frightened and all we needed to do to make him not so frightened was just a simple little thing and I told them just imagine running to the store because you have no choice and risking dying because of it! For these protesters to say there rights are being violated, well what about my rights? And what about the rights of that gentleman? What gives anyone the right to risk another’s life? Over 1 million people died so far! 1 million people! Don’t be children, take some responsibility!

I would hope the gentleman who just had chemo has someone who can go to the store and do his shopping and errands for him, that would be the best thing. If Humboldt County has a Cancer Resource Center (Mendocino has one that is absolutely top notch) perhaps they can help him with this if he has no one to help. He should not have to go out shopping, especially if he is fearful. Very sad to hear.

There you go, irrational fear, and phony news…

Wait for the food shortages, coming right up!

When millions are starving, I hope you will let someone leave their home.

Meanwhile, plenty of essential marijuana available!

Once again, all those SNF patients that died, are now dead, and no longer available to expire…

Time to let the herd roam freely…

Nobody was armed at the protest today except probably rex had a concealed piece. These people aren’t all right wing. Can you put politics aside for a minute? These are your fellow citizens. Your comment on this protest is just not correct. We do not have to be “hating” on this folks, we simply might be upset that they are viewing this health issue challenge with such a “political slant”. There should be NO RUSH on restoring our business’s until it is safe…and Newsome is doing a great job balancing this tragic situation we are all dealing with. I have noticed in the past you enjoy playing both sides…some how it makes you feel “open minded” and “tolerant”. Parading together, even with children and no face masks, is just simply WRONG! Tell it like it is Kym, instead of playing in the lane of “beige”. Just my humble opinion. That the supervisor’s were present is even more insulting to all of us who have remained sheltered in place, dealing with all the hardships associated with it. I am a live in IHSS care provider for a 24 hour protective care client who at 89, cannot risk being exposed to this deadly virus. I have worked 13 hour shifts for 48 days, with no relief or visits in our house. I am sure none of those 50 people are “starving” or “exhausted”, they are simply impatient. They are expressing their anger at rules being imposed on them in order to protect ALL OF US. I do not support their effort in any way, shape or form.

Social shaming is a thing that even Humboldt’s media participates in. Every one of those protesters represents many more who, for all sorts of reasons, are afraid or embarrassed to show themselves in public as protesting an opinion counter to the status quo. Like protesting the Patriot Act after nine eleven. Unfortunately, it increasingly begets scorn, ridicule and shame from the media, in the land of the free. Something’s not right.

There were many families at this protest; are families required to stand 6′ apart from each other wearing facemasks when in the open air? It is time to turn off the mass media and turn on our brains. It’s ‘safe’ and legal to kill a fully-developed baby in or outside the womb but it’s ‘unsafe’ and illegal to congregate in the open air without a facemask? Clearly our educational system is failing when we hear this lack of reason and logic. The best thing about this lockdown is the closure of the brain-washing, idealogue factories know as “public schools”.

I support the protest but not the rightwing talking points you are dragging into this thread. Can we try to stick to the articles subject matter. Your playing the right left thing is so divisive. He’s buddhist, she’s christian, he’s muslim….etc
The thing that we are all connected by is the constitution. That’s what this is about to many people. The at risk and worried people should be able to shelter as long as they want. The county should deliver groceries etc to them.

The ability to analyze and protest laws concerning ‘safety’ and ‘legality’ as determined by the state is what is being questioned. Laws such as abortion make the same ‘safe/legal’ claims as those of facemasks and social distancing. Public schools have been given the responsiblity for educating the minds of the majority of Americans. That our people think we must accept laws without questioning their logic and morality directly points to the failure of state-run “education”.
You’re right, lamentably reason and logic tend to be found mostly on the side of the right-wing, social conservative. I like your idea about at-risk or fearful people self-quarantining. That is reasonable and logical!

The conservative has a least one advantage in logic. Being conservative generally means supporting policy that already exists. Liberals on the other hand want the government to enforce things that don’t yet exist but they want to exist. The risk with that is not only that it may not be possible it can exist but the attempt to create it may have unexpected and negative fall out.

Suzanne

Guest: great comment. Yes this is true. The conservative looks at what’s been done throughout History to inform the present.
There is a place for liberalism and innovation but all within the bounds of a good knowledge and understanding of History. Lenin, Stalin, Mao Tse Tung and the current persecution of the Chinese under the CPC should be enough to dissuade Americans from socialism and communism but many still seem to think this is a great idea. This reveals a real lack of historical knowledge (public schools?). These are not just failed attempts at Utopia but rather the inevitable consequences of an inherently evil ideology.

Cool. Thanks for being so level-headed. I totally agree, kill the mass media. As a former public school teacher and a current homeschooler I am opposed to the model of public school education. The family has always been the primary educator of children not the state since time immemorial. Now we have professional “educators” teaching kids that there is no objective reality and truth is all about subjective feelings, there is no History nor logic taught in schools. A scripted curriculum can be taught by anyone and most elementary teachers are not experts in any field other than classroom management. I am not criticizing them personally nor their intentions, I criticize the system that we have been led to believe is the “norm”. It is no small wonder that people just do what they are told by the media and the oligarchs without questioning the narrative. They have been doing it from Pre-K on.

It’s also true that these people are practicing their constitutional rights. The gov order to stay at home and for businesses to shutter their doors does not hold water. Just as everybody else has the right to shelter in place for as long as they want these people have the right to assemble, practice freedom of unimpeded travel etc. etc. Do you think everybody should be forced to be vaccinated against the virus should one be developed? Please don’t think I’m a trump supporter or a liberal for my views on freedom and the constitution because I’m neither. I’m a freedom loving person.

The Constitution is the law. Right to assemble is Constitutionally protected. Any State law that opposes the Constitution is unlawful. Over 99% recovery rate does not warrant a shutdown, otherwise we would shut down every year for the flu and pneumonia season.
Unfortunately people will die, maybe people I know, before herd immunity is achieved. In California data shows there is a only 1 in 100,000 chance of dying from the Corona virus.

President George Washington said, “When any great object is in view, the popular mind is roused into expectation, and prepared to make sacrifices of both ease and property.” Redefining the role of public health activities by rearticulating the social pact that gives the state the power to protect the community is essential. Well that is alleged fear with no data to justify it.

10 community transmissions , Humboldt is not a hotbed corona . Read the studies; the asymptomatic transmissions happen in tight-knit circles; families; nursing homes ;communities where there’s already significant community transmission. We’ve got none of that . It’s an unwarranted worry! The doctors themselves already know even the n95 masks don’t stop transmission in a clinical setting , how are masks supposed to work out here in public ? Especially when people are constantly touching them and resorting to using the weakest thing like a freaking bandana in order to “comply?” It’s a joke. Cannot wait for this to be over .

Fact check this!
COVID-19 comes along and now we need a vaccine, and there is going to be a meat shortage, too?🤔

And Gates just happens to come to the rescue with a Vaccine and artificial meat?😟

And prior to any of this, Gates funds a simulation (Event 201) about this very scenario (a global pandemic created by a new SARS-like coronavirus) a month before it actually happens?👇

And Fauci funded $7.4 million in gain-of-function research to the Wuhan lab for the express purpose of generating a viral mutant capable of crossing over from bats to humans just so that they would be ready in case it happens someday? After a moratorium was placed, and then subsequently lifted for this type of research? And right when Phase II of this funded program kicks in in 2019, this very virus they were attempting to genetically create in the Wuhan lab shows up in the population in Wuhan?👇

And Fauci is also a lead council member of the Gates Foundation’s Global Vaccine Action Plan (GVAP)?

Food for thought.

It’s hard to understand the methods, if you don’t know the goal.

Look at all the science fiction movies that have been released in the last 50 years.

There is a term, called telling” truth through fiction”.

As far as the people in government and it’s advisors. Look to the recent General Flynn revelations to know how dirty the bad actors can play.

You ask Why?

They mostly likely would answer, “because this is our vision of the future”.

The protesters w/o masks should be given masks. If they refuse to wear one they should be advised to go home. If they refuse both of those options they should be fined, then arrested and removed if necessary. Not for protesting- God Bless them they have every right to do that! But for flaunting the public space orders in a very real medical emergency. If the cops won’t do that and instead insist on spending their resources going after a small clone bust down in Garberville then…wtf kind of a public health and safety message is that?! And I would hope that Supervisors Bohn and Bass agree with me on this…

I’m confused why do they have to wear a mask outside? I believe the order was to wear a mask inside Of grocery stores or businesses. I didn’t think it was important will to wear it outside in the open Fresh air. Maybe I miss read that. But I’m pretty sure and less somebody is coughing in their face they are OK to not wear it outside if they choose not to. If any of the protesters that are there are worried they can move away from each other as well.

Flaunting or speaking out against policy that is causing way more damage.

Why does YouTube censor 2 California doctors who disagree with the W.H.O?

This is why people disregard orders that create more suffering. It’s our right and duty to hold the system accountable for the money it demands from its citizens and then DOES NOT REPRESENT.

HOW DARE THESE PEOPLE NOT GIVE UP THEIR FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS!!! THEY SHOULD DO WHAT I WANT. MY GOD DO THEY NOT UNDERSTAND THAT THE FIRST AMENDMENT ONLY MATTERS WHEN I WANT TO DO SOMETHING? AS SOON AS SOMEONE GETS SICK, THE FIRST AMENDMENT IS INVALID!!!!! HOW HARD IS THIS TO UNDERSTAND. OBEY OBEY OBEY STOP QUESTIONING. UNTIL THERE IS A 0% CHANCE THAT LEAVING YOUR HOME MIGHT END UP IN SOMEONE ELSE DYING NO ONE SHOULD LEAVE THERE HOME. UNTIL ALL CHANCE OF DEATH IS COMPLETELY ERADICATED, EVERYONE SHOULD GIVE UP THEIR RIGHTS. WHY IS THAT HARD TO DO? GIVE UP EVERYTHING PLEASE UNTIL THERE IS NO MORE DEATH IN THE WORLD.

IF THAT MEANS MILLIONS ARE OUT OF WORK, AND MILLIONS STARVE, NO PRICE IS TOO HIGH TO SAVE A LIFE.

HOW CAN ANYONE DRIVE?? DO YOU KNOW THAT THERE’S A CHANCE SOMEONE MIGHT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT? HOW DARE ANYONE HAS SEX ANYMORE? DO YOU REALIZE THERE ARE STDS? HOW DARE YOU USE ELECTRONIC DEVICES?? THOSE DEVICES CONTAIN COBALT, AND PEOPLE ARE EXPLOITED AND SOME DIE MINING THAT. HOW DARE YOU?? ALL BEACHES NEED TO BE CLOSED. WHAT IF SOMEONE DROWNS? HOW DARE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DO NOT QUESTION ME. IF YOU DO, YOU DON’T CARE ABOUT ANYONE BUT YOURSELF AND YOU ARE SELFISH AND SHOULD BE CANCELLED. YOU DON’T MATTER. YOUR OPINION IS INVALID AND YOU ARE JUST A CORPORATE SHILL. YOU CAN’T CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE. OBVIOUSLY THE FACT THAT YOU ARE UNEMPLOYED, UNABLE TO PAY YOUR RENT, BARELY ABLE TO BUY FOOD, AND WANT TO CHANGE YOUR SITUATION IS JUST YOU BEING SELFISH. Hello Karen: I want to answer to your first paragraph: When you give up your rights HISTORY has proven that the government doesn’t give them back until there is a bloody physical fight. I hope that this won’t be the case! BUT as a veteran I’ve seen this as the third Coup D’etat I’ve witnessed—JFK, 9/11 and now Covid 19. As to your second paragraph: QUOTE: If that means millions are out of work, and millions will starve, no price is too high to save a life (singular). That seems just a little bit over reacting to something that just might be overblown in the first place. Are all the Covid 19 deaths really attributed soley to the virus or where alot of deaths had many underlining ailments. i.e. Nursing homes, Veteran homes, and what I’ve read is the ventilators killed alot of people. I MIGHT have had this virus in early March, I had a slight fever 1-2 points and chills for 5 straight days. It didn’t prevent me from doing anything that I would normally do, which if it was Covid 19 I attribute my minor case to being healthy. (I have never read anything by any health PROFESSIONAL about consuming Vit D, lots of Vit C, Zinc which slows the replication and admission into the cell, selenium which helps turn on the inmune system. Cooking with ONIONS, GARLIC, TUMERIC and PEPPERS which happen to be all anti-virals) I also love cooking with MUSHROOMS. Pharma drugs used per prescription kill way over 100,000 people a year. Is that a criminal act? Do we shut down Big Pharma over those numbers? I’m scared the commie Dem governors ( I’m a registered democrat) (Being a Democrat has changed their philosophy in the last 10 years or so) are not going to give us our rights back. TIME will tell.

It’s an unenforceable order.

Prove they have received notice of the order, aren’t exempt, and don’t live with the person within 6’? If they exercise their right to not answer incriminating questions how do you prove otherwise?

Who broke the law? The person in their 6’ circle or the person who entered it? Who entered it first. Does the first person have a duty to walk away?

This isn’t like driving on the roads where the rules are clear and defined by lines and signs.

Like I said, unenforceable. Happy May Day Comrades!

Why does the government send young men and women to the battle field.

Do the ends justify the means?

I would say that the lockdown in Humboldt is only creating more hardships for the people who still have mortgages, taxes, and other cost of living bills that are not being locked down.

This is economic warfare.

People see the attempt to silence dissent and it’s a good indicator that our educational system has moved away from critical thinking and the dialectic, to study the answers to pass the test.

How’s the numbers on common core?

Did the second wave kill mostly those who managed to protect themselves by social isolation in the first wave which turned out to be milder than the second wave ? “In general, naval warships that had high mortality during the second wave were not affected by the first wave because of their relative isolation (eg, in the southern hemisphere),” the report says.
US military personnel in Hawaii offered another example, the researchers found. Many of the sailors and soldiers there had a mild flu-like illness in mid-1918. Later in the year, when the second pandemic wave hit, only one US sailor in Hawaii died of flu and pneumonia. A similar pattern was seen in a US Army camp in Puerto Rico.”
https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-perspective/2011/09/study-suggests-1918-flu-waves-were-caused-distinct-viruses

So what is so hysterically defended by many as the only decent way to behave may yet turn out to be the exact wrong action. A little less certainty in an uncertain situation may be reasonable.

Look up civilian fatalities from the flu in 1918-19. Not military. The city people took off their masks and started crowding into stores and restaurants. Exactly what people will do here if controls are lifted too soon. The 2nd and 3rd wave killed tens of thousands..

The reason for examining the military records is because they offer 1) records and 2) have naturally isolated and not isolated to evaluate.

It is always irritating to try to discuss the value if different ideas with people who only focus on one idea. The point is does self isolation, which can’t be maintained long enough to eliminate the disease, reduce the deaths over a long time better than non self isolation . Of course the virus causes deaths. It’s a pandemic. But does it lower the deaths a pandemic causes of the self isolation keeps immunity at bay too? Maybe allowing a milder disease to create wide spread immunity on the first wave will create less deaths overall than if, due to a lack of exposure, the next wave is a harsher disease where few have gained immunity.

So saying ‘people are dying’ doesn’t excuse a lack of thought about the next stage of a pandemic than the first one. There are a lot of unknowns. Could the next wave be actually less virulent so the death rate over time is less if people get sick on the second wave rather than the first. Will a vaccine come in time to prevent a second or third wave? Will self isolation cause such destruction that it creates a whole new level of social disruption and deaths not directly related to the disease itself.

These are “thought experiments” such as Einstein did. Freedom to have these thoughts leads to better planning than only seeing what is right in front of the nose.

The Spanish flu mainly killed people under 40. It is believed that the population over 40 had antibodies from an earlier virus, resulting in a milder to nonexistent symptoms from the Spanish flu. All these vaccines and sanitization could be setting us up for getting slammed by a bug in the future that could be much worse. To the self proclaimed mask cheerleaders,YOU can wear that mask full time even after this fear based madness is over. It might protect you from the regular flu, colds etc. What a great deal!

We have an obligation to protect our elders and those who work in health care but people are also losing everything and unable to put food on their table for their families. We need to work together to find a middle ground. We need to find away to support those in need without sacrificing public health and safety.

Universal basic income would be a good place to start. Those stimulus payments should be monthly not one time only. But for many people that have rent, kids to feed etc. $1200 and $500 a kid isn’t enough for everything.

So what have we learned from most of the posts. First, if you cause someone to die it isn’t your fault. Based on that if I go out and get drunk and hit your car and you die it’s not my fault. It’s my right to drink and to drive a car on the highway.

If a tree in my yard falls over in a wind storm and it hits your vehicle while you are driving into the your driveway and kills you. It’s not my fault. I have a right to grow trees on my property. I didn’t create the wind.

If I’m messing around with my hand weapon and it accidentally discharges and hits you and you die. That’s not my fault. The Second Amendment protects my right to owning a weapon. It’s not my fault you were in the way of the bullet.

My son goes to school and he has the measles, but I have the right to not vaccinate my son. He infects your daughter, who isn’t vaccinated, and she goes home and infects your other children, who are not vaccinated and they all die. That’s not his or my fault. My son has the right to an education.

If, while you are protesting, you infect me with a virus and I get sick and die. It’s not your fault. You have the right to protest.

Have I covered everything?

In order for herd immunity to kick in about 70% of the population need to develop antibodies to Covid19. The shelter in place orders were not supposed to be about keeping people from ‘ever’ getting it; it was just about slowing down the speed of the overall infections. The medical system is not overwhelmed right now… if you are under 65 and healthy your concern should be on a myriad of other things which may lead to your untimely death; covid19 is not on that list.

Herd immunity is not the answer.
No medical experts agree at this time that we will develop an immunity if exposed. They say we don’t have enough information yet.
NO ONE develops an immunity to the “common cold” which is a type of corona virus, so the experts are counseling we need more time to understand what will happen.
OVER 65,500 deaths in the U.S. from covid19 in FOUR months and thousands more people are dying every day. Approximately 56,000 died from flu in TWELVE months last year. Only morons are comparing this to the flu.

People develop immunity to the common cold all the time. But what’s termed the common cold is caused by a variety of viruses. So every time a new one comes along, you have develop immunity to that one too. Eventually, if you are routinely exposed and a healthy person, your body’s library of immunity builds up and it takes something really different to make you sick. https://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/06/science/can-immunity-to-the-common-cold-come-with-age.html

While immunity to covid-19 hasn’t yet been scientifically established, it would be the only corona virus I ever heard of that didn’t create such immunity normally. Covid-19 just hasn’t been around ling enough for the scientists to be sure how long the immunity lasts. But there is plenty of indications it lasts for at least a year.

People have a right to peaceful assembly. That’s in the constitution. Nobody had a gun, and nobody spit in anybody’s gave that is a false accusation and that comment yet can be traced.

People have a right to post their opinion, not just the opinion trinbold, river lady, or Elvis like. It’s called freedom of speech and it’s in the constitution.

But the trolls mentioned here don’t care or know about the constitution or what it means all they want is the 10 bucks an hour they get for trolling. It’s obvious they don’t live here, or they couldn’t say that about humboldtians. So trolls listen up!

There are other options beside bureaucratic exercises in micro regulation. Don’t pick and choose which business is screwed and which is not. Instead decide what activities are too dangerous at the moment such as concerts, festivals and mass events. Then allow anything not in that danger zone to plan and survive . Offer testing to say food servers who could spread the virus unknowingly but check on their safe practices. Limit size of venues. I’d say food service but not bars as drunk people are notoriously foolish. But that’s my bias.

Open schools so parents can work but keep older teachers doing distance schooling while the students are in class. Creative solutions are possible.

Sensible yes but recognize the limits of imposing massive regulation. It’s not either/or. Not this Or that detail but common sense and adaptability from our officials that will work longer than a month.

You don’t own the State. Luckily for everyone. Nor does your lack regard for those who differ from you support the idea that you care for more than yourself.

Let’s give Georgia a 2-3 week head start and see how sick they get. Then we can have something to talk about.

Executive Summary Interpretation of the Data In This Report
The HCQ-AZ combination, when started immediately after diagnosis, appears to be a safe and efficient treatment for COVID-19, with a mortality rate of 0.5%, in elderly patients. It avoids worsening and clears virus persistence and contagious infectivity in most cases.

ST Nichole. Chloroquine is a potent inhibitor of SARS coronavirus infection and spread. Virology Journal. (2005) 2: 69
Chloroquine has strong antiviral effects on SARS CoV infection of primate cells in tissue culture. These inhibitory effects are observed when cells are treated with the drug either before or after exposure to the virus, suggesting both prophylactic preventative and treatment use. The paper describes three mechanisms by which the drug might work and suggest it may have both a prophylactic and therapeutic role in Coronavirus infections.

Young with mild symptoms without underlying conditions, doctors can observe them without antiviral treatment.

If 10 days have passed since the onset of the illness and the symptoms are mild, physicians do not have to start an antiviral medication.
If patients are old or have underlying conditions with serious symptoms, physicians should consider an antiviral treatment as soon as possible. lopinavir 400mg/ritonavir 100mg (Kaletra two tablets, twice a day) or chloroquine 500mg orally per day. Alternate is hydrocortisone 400mg orally per day.

Something’s Fishy.

Tom,
agreed,
thanks.

All this shut down is based on gates event 201 model and what some scientists in China said.

Did you know gates has doubled his fortune since becoming a “philanthropist?” He has his “foundation” and a trust, the foundation donate money, and the trust makes money, profits, lots of profits.

Gates donates money to many ms news agencies, he also donates money to the cdc and the who.

The corona vac. he’s come up with is so bad, Africa won’t let him experiment on them over there.

Hot coffee,

In my opinion,
I think the numbers are inflated, that there is much less not more being reported but the New York Times says its .06% in the u.s.

That said I like the drug your comment mentioned, that should be in supply, that and the supplies, though I’ve heard that the ventilators aren’t so good for this, but whatever they need they should have.

Heard the course you rec. is helpful,
that you took the time to post this is good of you,
and that Kyme has a paper that makes that possible is good of her.

It’s nice you want to help people. I want people to be well medically as well but also well as a community, getting back to work.

Maybe the awesome nurse kyme did the article about could be in charge of making sure there is enough of that drug you mentioned, she was on the front lines.

Still since according to the n.y. times the the fatality rate is less than the flu, freedom comes first.

And in my opinion even if it had a 50% fatality rate, which its not, freedom comes first. That is my opinion.

Peace.

Depending on your age it is less fatal than the flu. Stratification by age group is so large that treating everbody as if they have the same risk is illogical.

Ive read that authorities are claiming covid as a death if they die and test positive wether they died of itnor not
And presumptive cases. So even if you die in a car crash or heart attack or stroke but have covid they will mark it as a death by covid. Seems skewed if thats true. Hospitals and municipalities also get paid per covid death. Kinda like the prison system getting paid for inmatesm

Fatality rates by demographics is not an easy statistic to find. I don’t know why… it should be a primary driver for public policy, but b is not.

For NYC through 4/28/20
Ages:
0-17. 0%
18-44. 0.014%
45-64. 0.125%
65-75. 0.41%
75+ 1.02%

Their data is from the CDC and The Who.
And that has been corrected to 37 thousand deaths by the CDC.

only 37 thousand fatalities in the u.s.
but CNN, cbs, all the ms news organizations keep saying 60 thousand.
From today

Liberals see an opportunity to stop the reelection of Trump by exaggerating the death count and then blaming him for not taking it seriously. Liberals are morons.

Kym, I’m looking at the cdc’s own official website in the link, covid fatalities as of May 1st is 37k, pneumonia 64k. I’m not participating in your conversation, just watching the numbers change, as well as official explanations. Do you see the same link says more than 37k?

A very important point is made about specific sources of information. WHY does the NYT say there are twice as many deaths, if their sources are official? Because (here’s the kicker) the official sources say half that.

Another very important point is, what sources are within who’s spheres of influence? Who do you personally hear repeating what sources? The NYT is considered to be an “official source” by most people. The publishing company that owns the NYT, owns several other “official news sources” that we all hear our own family, friends and associates repeat.

The connection should be made, that there’s a 100% difference of opinion between the real official source and the sources that we are led to believe rely on the official source.

…if that makes sense.

It was a second level sarcasm that I thought would provoke a response from you based on your bias where you excused trinboldtcino for the same insult just pointed in a more congenial direction. It is not reasonable to find that saying A is a conservative and Conservatives are morons is acceptable while saying A is a moron is not. That what what I pointed out to G in my comment. That is the game.

Besides you as a liberal are not automatically aligned with all scientists. Epidemiologist are in general not support of massive government enforced isolation as a good policy. Yes, it reduces immediate deaths and most doctors, liberals and politicians are aimed at that because of the nature of their interests. But that is far from the all you think it is. Social isolating is not everything. It is part of a problem.

“I think the model’s broad conclusion is correct that there is a terrible dilemma of very long-term social distancing, or overloading healthcare systems, or both,” said Marc Lipsitch, DPhil, a professor of epidemiology and the director of the Center for Communicable Disease Dynamics at Harvard University. “With the options currently available I do not see a way to get out of this dilemma.”

37k covid19 deaths.

The cdc says there is a reporting lag of on average, 7 days and up to 2 weeks.
That means that the cdc you posted isn’t from cdc official reporting, rather from other sources.

“Provisional death counts may not match counts from other sources, such as media reports or numbers from county health departments. Our counts often track 1–2 weeks behind other data for a number of reasons: Death certificates take time to be completed. There are many steps involved in completing and submitting a death certificate. Waiting for test results can create additional delays. States report at different rates. Currently, 63% of all U.S. deaths are reported within 10 days of the date of death, but there is significant variation among jurisdictions. It takes extra time to code COVID-19 deaths. While 80% of deaths are electronically processed and coded by NCHS within minutes, most deaths from COVID-19 must be coded manually, which takes an average of 7 days. Other reporting systems use different definitions or methods for counting deaths.”

Kym, from your link:
“As of April 14, 2020, CDC case counts and death counts include both confirmed and probable cases and deaths.”

I think that the numbers from my link are confirmed and from yours confirmed + probable… hence the discrepancy of 27k deaths.

Silly remark.
You have no Idea what I’m doing,or what I like, but for your info. I’m looking at research and sharing it. If you don’t like additional info. perhaps you’re the slave?

Recommending people do their own research is hardly slavery.
It means I believe most people are intelligent and given enough information they will make the decisions they believe is best for themselves their loved ones, and their communities.

Lets hypothesis for a minute that all those that are waiting for a vaccine will get one and therefore be immune. Trials have already started.

All those that can’t get a vaccine but would if they could were sheltered in place and …
the nurses being laid off in other medical fields and not working at the moment were to deliver food and groceries, checking the health, of those not able to tolerant vaccines and they were excellently cared for by those nurses and community assistants who would be paid for their work.
Children that can’t go to school with the unvacinated could be brought into the school by skype or other telecommunications.

So the vaccine crowd has their vaccine, those that can’t are cared for and that leaves both safe.

The rest of the folks that don’t want a vaccine should also be able to go about their lives without endangering anyone, and the Country could stay open and everyone go about their lives in a normal manner.

It needs a little work but it’s a potential solution where everyone gets what they want.

Anyone else have any Ideas?
