58 Tests, Zero Positive So Far in Trinity County

Press release from the Trinity County office of Health and Human Services:

novel coronavirus Covid-19 Trinity CountyAs of today, there are no reported cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Trinity County. Testing numbers are as follows:

  • 58 total

  • 58 negative

  • 0 pending

The Trinity County Health and Human Services (HHS) Public Health Branch (PHB) continues to work closely with the Office of Emergency Services (OES) and other local, state, and federal partners to address unique response needs to COVID-19 in Trinity County.

Our coordinated COVID-19 emergency response system includes our PHB Department Operation Center (DOC), our HHS Social Services DOC, our Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and our County Multiagency Coordination (MAC) Group. This system has been put into place to move toward a centralize command and to coordinate response planning as well as prioritize the need for critical resources to prevent the loss of life.

In this pandemic, due to the nature of the virus and the breadth of infection rates throughout California and the Nation, delivery of needed resources such as testing supplies and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be delayed. We are working with state and regional partners to obtain needed qualitative testing kits that would enable our Hospital Lab to provide rapid results. Moving forward this will be vital.

We are also working to secure sufficient levels of PPE to meet the needs in Trinity County for our essential workers and healthcare systems. We currently have sufficient PPE resources to meet the

immediate need of our essential workers and our healthcare workers. We ask that the general public do not request surgical masks or medical grade respirators (N95).

Currently Trinity County PHB understands that cloth face coverings may help prevent spread of Coronavirus by pre-symptomatic persons, in that it prevents the wearer, who may not have symptoms, from infecting others when out in public.

Our PHB does not endorse or recommend any specific material or type of cloth face covering; however, The California Department of Public Health has provided guidance on the use of cloth face coverings by the general public when outside the home conducting essential activities:

  • A cloth face covering is a material that covers the nose and mouth.

  • It can be secured to the head with ties or straps or simply wrapped around the lower face.

  • It can be made of a variety of materials, such as cotton, silk, or linen.

  • A cloth face covering may be factory-made or sewn by hand, or can be improvised from household items such as scarfs, T-shirts, sweatshirts, or towels.

This guidance does not substitute for existing Trinity County requirements of social distancing and quarantine/isolation, or other prevention measures put in place:

  • Quarantined individuals (do not have illness or a positive test) – stay home unless leaving your home for essential needs such as groceries or medications.

  • Isolated individuals (have illness or potentially have illness due to exposure) must stay 6-10 feet away from others and must not go out in public except in the event of an emergency, and if leaving the home, must wear a mask.

  • All persons must maintain social distance of 6 feet or more.

  • Wipe down surfaces regularly, including counter-tops and grocery carts.

  • Do not congregate in groups of people other than those who you are typically in close contact with (i.e. family)

We want to once again thank you for doing your part and complying with the statewide “stay-at- home” order issued by Governor Newsom on March 19, 2020 and the self- quarantine and travel order issued by the Trinity County Health Officer on March 25, 2020.

Wow! 58 tests 58 negative. The big county of trinity must have got the tests with fast results. The rest of the state takes days to get results. Trinity must be magic. Or delusional.

We here in Trinity transmute delusion into magical non-delusion through the direct recogination of the basic ground that gives birth to both simultaneously. It’s a tantric thing, and it doesn’t really permeate your bones until you’ve been here a while, like 12-15 years. Also, time is demonstrably slower here, as long as you are 1000 yards or greater from a main thoroughfare. Just some stuff I’ve noticed over the last 25 years.

It’s easy for TrinCo. Technically I have been social distancing since I moved here 2 decades ago. My wife and I were talking about it and we believe we were properly socially distancing at the county fair last summer without even thinking about it.

Probably have less people from NY too. Every time I turn around I see a NY plate. We have a lot from L.A. as well.

Trinity has a higher testing rate than the US as a whole.
0.4% vs 0.3%

Turn around for tests is 10 days here.

2 weeks ago they had 0 interest in testing me because my symptoms were mild.

Trinity HHS office was terribly frustrating and reckless in their words to me.

The hospital was a better experience.

I think you created a new word, when i say it it sounds normal, like us humans have been saying that all along. I’m going to start using it casually in conversation as a social experiment, and see if anyone notices and is like, wtf? I’ll be all “please dilont criticize my speech, i gots hella upstate kali cultural references you may not knowderstand, so chillidiot”.
