Inmate Who Walked Away from Alder Conservation Camp Near Klamath Still At Large

Lester JacksonPress release from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation:

California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) officials, assisted by CAL FIRE, the California Highway Patrol and local law enforcement agencies, are still searching for Lester Jackson, a minimum-security inmate who walked away from Alder Conservation Camp in Del Norte County early Tuesday morning.

Jackson, who was assigned as a firefighter, was last seen at Alder Conservation Camp in Klamath on March 31 wearing grey sweat pants.

Jackson, 30, is a black male, 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 170 pounds with brown eyes, long black hair worn in dreadlocks, a mustache and a short beard. He has a tattoo on his outer right forearm that says “GRIMY” and another on his inner right forearm with a picture of a prison tower and a lit candle below it. Jackson has several tattoos on his torso; one reads “trippin 4 life.” He was received from Solano County in May 2011 with an 11-year, 10-month sentence for second-degree robbery, false imprisonment and carjacking. He was scheduled to parole in June 2020.

Jackson has associates in Oakland. Anyone who sees him should call 911 or contact law enforcement authorities immediately. Anyone having knowledge of Jackson’s whereabouts should contact the California Correctional Center Watch Commander at (530) 257-2181, extension 4173.

Since 1977, 99 percent of all offenders who have left an adult institution, camp or community-based program without permission have been apprehended.

🕯🌳Well I’d say he’s either back in Oakland or farther, either way he’s made it longer than the other two. 🕯🖖🐸

Keep watering down that term, it already has lost almost all it’s potency as loosely as people are tossing it around these days.

Not sure how that is racist. Surely you can’t be referring to the Oakland part. Did you read the press release? It clearly states, “Jackson has associates in Oakland.” Ok, if you missed it, maybe, then, not that clearly.

Something is wrong with this picture! Why with two months to go after a long term would someone walk away with a job prospect of fire fighting when released?

Because he’s an idiot. I’ve had to work with these crews before. Remember, there ALL in there for a reason. Not the smartest bunch

Ex cons CANNOT fight fire for ANY dept, paid or volunteer. It doesn’t matter how good they were on the inside, how much time spent in the heat, how many lives they saved. Amy Goodman did a whole story on Democracy Now during the Carr Fire, in Redding. Unless things have changed since then, the gov’t makes/saves million$ hiring inmates to fight fires for $1 a day, and $1 an hour when on the front line.

He might have even gotten an early “covid” release.

They’ll catch him. Then he can get the first part of his tattoo removed. Instead of “trippin 4 life”, it’ll can just be “in 4 life”…

🏃‍♀️Who was it that said he was only obeying orders to ” social distance” and “isolate” ? That should be his defence when they do catch him! I dont understand why he would not just stay put for the remainder of his “time”. Since he had so little left to do. If he never turns up we will have to assume someone killed him and this is a cover up. It just dosen’t make sense that he would run just to be running. Sad for him if it was just another bad decision on his part. Hopefully he had a darn good reason.
