All Southern Humboldt Unified School District School Sites Will Remain Closed Throughout the Remainder of the 2019-2020 School Year

The Southern Humboldt Unified School District (SHUSD)Press release from the SHUSD:

Dear Southern Humboldt USD Families,

In light of the increasing seriousness of the current COVID-19 pandemic and based on the recommendations by California Govenor Gavin Newsom, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tony Thurmond, Humboldt County Office of Education, and Humboldt County’s Public Health Officer, Dr. Teresa Frankovich, all Southern Humboldt Unified School District school sites will remain closed throughout the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.

Although our school sites will remain closed to the public during this time, educational activities, enrichment and distance learning opportunities facilitated by SHUSD teachers for all students will remain in place. Please continue to stay in contact and be in communication with your child’s teacher(s) through Thursday, June 11, 2020.

Southern Humboldt Unified School District will continue to provide meal to students under the age of 18. Starting Monday April 6, 2020 Southern Humboldt USD will be changing our schedule for food distribution at our designated location.

We will continue to distribute bagged meals at Redway and Agnes J Johnson Elementary, as well as at South Fork High School and the Garberville Bus Stop. Rather than providing this service each weekday, we will begin providing on-site meal pick-up on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Two days’ worth of meals will be provided on Mondays and Wednesdays. Pick-up times will be changing and will now be from 12:00 -12:30 at South Fork and at Agnes Johnson Elementary.
Redway Elementary will also be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday but will remain 11:30-12:30 and meals will still be available for pick up Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the top of the Garberville Bus Stop from 12:30-12:45pm.

The van delivery service of meals to outlying areas will continue to be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, following the schedule listed on our Food Distribution Site. We will be providing two days’ worth of meals on Mondays and Wednesdays.

During this time, we are encouraging everyone to continue to shelter in place and to honor social distancing guidelines. We sincerely hope you and your family remain safe and healthy.

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher or leave a message at your child’s school.

Sincerely,
Southern Humboldt Unified School District.
