[UPDATE 4:35 p.m.] EPD Seeks Armed Suspect

She relayed information that the suspect was a Native American male in his early twenties with a thin build wearing a white bandanna in a triangle shape covering his nose and mouth, a black hooded sweatshirt, and carrying a manila envelope. The suspect was last seen on L Street. The black small caliber firearm was reported to be in the suspect’s waistband as he left the scene.

At this point, we haven’t confirmed that the robber got away with money. We’ve requested more information from the EPD.

UPDATE 2:02 p.m.: A BOLO over the scanner indicates the robber fled with cash.

UPDATE 4:35 p.m.: Press release from the Eureka Police Department:

On March 31, 2020, at about 1:00 p.m., officers with the Eureka Police Department were dispatched to the 1100 block of 5^th Street for a panic alarm at a check cashing business. While officers were responding, additional information was received that the business had been robbed and the suspect was no longer on scene.

Based on the initial investigation, it appears that a male entered the store, brandished a firearm, and presented a note demanding money. The male fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect was described as a male in his 20’s, thin build, and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants, white bandana over his face, and had a black firearm. The male was last seen heading south on L Street on foot.
