Two Inmates Apprehended

Derek Barnett, Noah WilsonPress release from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation:

In two separate incidents, agents apprehended two minimum-security inmates who walked away from the California Correctional Center (CCC) Eel River Conservation Camp in Humboldt County on March 27, 2020.

Following investigative leads, special agents from California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) arrested 29-year-old Derek Barnett about 11 a.m. as he was exiting an apartment complex in Ukiah, California. He was taken into custody without incident and will be transported to a CDCR facility. CDCR’s Office of Correctional Safety Special Services Unit was assisted by CDCR’s Criminal Intelligence Unit, the Ukiah Police Department and the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Department.

Also arrested was Harley Colvard of Ukiah for four outstanding felony warrants. Colvard also will face charges of aiding and abetting in the escape of inmates and harboring a fugitive.

Agents developed further information regarding a vehicle being used by the second inmate, 28-year-old Noah Wilson. At 4:35 p.m., the California Highway Patrol conducted a traffic stop off Interstate 5 south of Fort Tejon. Wilson was inside the car and officers arrested him without incident. The Rancho Cucamonga Special Services Unit also assisted in Wilson’s apprehension.

Barnett was assigned as a porter and Wilson was assigned as a cook at Eel River Conservation Camp, which houses approximately 120 minimum-custody inmates. During an evening inmate around 9:45 p.m. on March 27, 2020, staff discovered Barnett and Wilson were not in their assigned bunks.

Since 1977, 99 percent of all offenders who have left an adult institution, camp or community-based program without permission have been apprehended.

🕯🌳That’s why he was in a car running. The other snitched him off. I’d say he was heading south or at least out of state. 🖖🐸🕯
