Is it true that public health did not get the manifests from the three reported flights with Covid cases on them? How is that possible? A couple from the LA flight said they were never contacted but contacted public health themselves.

And I wish they would give an update on the hospitalized patient.

And if it took them days to find out how the positive case from the 24th was connected to others, that doesn’t give me much confidence this is contained whatsoever.

What you make you think this is in any way contained? Have you heard somewhere that the virus is contained?

There is no contact tracing being done, no integration of temperature recordings into daily public life, no effective quarantines. Of course its not contained and no one is saying that it is, not even tRump.

We’re going to half ass it, and cripple the economy, while having ZERO effect of the virus until at least late next week when 1000 Americans die on a single day. Then we might have some real lockdowns, ending this in 6-8 months. OR we might keep plunging along, like science the deniers we are, and really let this stretch on for months upon months.

Definitely not contained. As long as people are on the road traveling up and down the highways or flying in it will spread even with sheltering in place.

It would be nice if we knew the general location of those in quarantine.

There are at this moment 104,000 cases of covid 19 in the US. By this time next week, there will be 1,000,000.
8:00pm friday. Mark my words
The US is doing the worst job of any civilized country on the planet at controlling this.

how? by doing less testing per capita than most other countries? as of 24 march, south korea had tested 6.8/1000 people, the us: under 1.1/1000. as of today italy had tested 6.5/1000, california: 1.9/1000, pa 1.4/1000, ga: 1/1000, ny 7.5/1000 (and look at their numbers, around 45,000 last i saw). these statistics do not bode well for the united states.

In all seriousness and reality. Take the numbers posted here and times them by 90. (Coming from a medical perspective) 100,000 known cases US wide, that means 9-10 million are walking around with it. That could easily double in a week

Humboldt will continue to have more cases and eventually community spread since the elected officials refuse to close down the airport and county borders and will not require a quarantine for all visitors and returning residents (both steps Maui has taken). I guess the tourist dollars are more important than a healthy local community. After all, Humboldt County Politicians and Government have a certain hatred and disdain for out community, look how they have oppressed us, extorted us and stolen from us for decades.

Close the airport you mentally disabled Humboldt County Officials! Require quarantines for everyone coming into Humboldt County, Hawaii is doing this, why can’t Humboldt? Put checkpoints on all roads coming into the County, turn away all visitors, only allow residents who are willing to take a 14 day quarantine. Bay Area people do not care about our rural communities who will be impacted!

Or at least ban all non-essential travel through the airport. Italy has had to go on lockdown.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-italy/italy-coronavirus-death-toll-surges-past-10000-lockdown-extension-likely-idUSKBN21F0R5r

A lockdown was what the Chinese did to keep the outbreak in the 80k range, while all of the countries that didn’t do that because of their precious sensibilities are now paying the price.

There’s even resistance to a lockdown of New York, which is fast becoming the #1 disaster in the world. Plenty of blame to go around for politically motivated dysfunction in response to this crisis, not just on Trump. Cuomo is no longer one of the good guys.

I read that Trinidad has taken action on vacation rentals. Are other local cities continuing to allow short term rentals? If so, why? There seems to be an irreconcilable conflict between issuing a ‘shelter in place’ while permitting unrestricted and unmonitored travel in the same region. Perhaps the ‘shelter in place’ order should have been accompanied by a series of other measures to support that action – closing down the airport to all but health care workers, etc. We know how limited our healthcare is already, and there are so many local residents who live with underlying health issues that pre dispose them to more complex outcomes. So why put them at even more risk? Our Board of Supervisors don’t seem to have a plan, yet pandemic preparation has been taking place for years.

Stay home if you can. Many people will be traveling from point A to B to take care of family! This is essential travel. Shutting down travel on the highways is crazy talk. Not wanting to see people here on Vacay.. However people traveling to care for family will need food, and possibly lodging and gas to get from point A to Point B. Some people still have buisness to run as well… Not to say large gatherings should be tolerated. Or precautions shouldn’t be taken.. but some travel in my mind is necessary.

And BTW. The Arcata Airlines have been very difficult to keep. I think it would be Crazy to shut them off. What if they don’t come back? That would be bad in my book.

But this Crazy Talk of Witch Hunts as to who has it is also crazy. It’s everywhere. America’s populations are to widespread and numerous to track every case. And every contact. It’s severely beyond that now.. I mean I think certain efforts still need to be made like massive testing. And extensive sanitizing of grocery stores and the like.. but some essential travel is important to allow! I could not even think about keeping families separated at this point in time!

If you’re referring to my wanting generalized info, what I was suggesting was a map and graphics like the covid dashboards that break it down to county, Humboldt has this many, Mendo has this many etc. I’d like to see them get even smaller and do cities and towns within a county. Eureka has this many cases…., Arcata has this many. Avoiding hot spots is being done on a national and regional level, why not local.

I am not against Generalized statistics on States, City’s, Towns, or counties. I think I would be against naming Neighborhoods and individuals. And information such as where they traveled and such. I think most people are aware of where a Hot zone is.. six foot of any person really, and places such as grocery stores and anywhere people congratulate. But no, not responding to your Idea necessarily.. just this general Idea out there of naming individuals..

I am aware that places like China, one aspect on them getting control over this virus is strict Quarantines. They also had swift access to testing, Universal health care, along with a massive manufacturing sector, that was swift without excessive red tape, that has caused America to really fumble the ball.. Also, just the Culture, the people there understand the importance of getting a grip on this… they had also had experience with dealing with the first outbreak of SARS.

I read on Article, I think it was Taiwan. (Read a lot of articles lately). They had very few outbreaks, and where able to get a grip on things despite being very close to the outbreak. One factor of success… besides a strong manufacturing base.. And early testing…Gov. Issued Cell phones that tracked the movement of patients, And contacts. I think that would be futal here, and ineffective.. especially with how widespread it is already. I would like to see measures within reason that will save lives and shut this Virus down.. part of that is knowledge. Part of that is culture..

But still, I don’t think that naming individuals, or exploiting individual patient confidentiality will be of much benefit at this point. Maybe in the beginning. It’s far to widespread for that now…

LA County does a breakdown of numbers city by city, community by community. Humboldt should do the same.

Crazy talk? Wow! There has to be some kind of ban on tourism. New Orleans had a really low number of cases, but instead of shelter in place, they had Mardi Gras and now they have a serious problem. This is not the time to think about “traveler’s rights.” It’s the time to stop the PC crap and get serious. Humboldt County Government Officials don’t have a history of being any smarter than those in New Orleans. Remember how stupid they were before Katrina? They had a week to close down and did nothing. How long has Humboldt had and still being stupid?

Totally for a ban on Tourism right now. It’s unfortunate, but it’s necessary. What I think is crazy talk would be to stop people from traveling thru the 101 or shutting down the highways. All I am trying to point out is that there are a lot of people who must travel to take care of sick family members. I am not referring to a right to travel per say.. although I am concerned about the future of people’s rights because of this. I am even more concerned about the economic fall out. But the biggest concern right now, is preventing as many deaths as possible. The right I am concerned about, is the universe need to care for and be with loved ones at times like these..

Yeah, New Orleans allowing Marti Gras was a HUGE costly deadly mistake. The gov, I think in all cases is tripping over its own limbs in so many ways! From testing to Masks to Handsanitizer. It baffles me. How long has the Gov had to save and prepare for something like this? C’mon! The strongest military on the planet, and the nation is brought to its knees over a little bug? WTH? Oh well All I can say.. regardless of party we are all stuck dealing with the village idiots in office! (Not all.. but most)

Cool small fry. All of what you said is the problem! None of that is sheltering in place! I have not seen My elderly mom or dad for 3 weeks. I’m not against what your talking about though and can agree, if that’s the case, open back up this country and let’s get back to work before we all die in an economic depression! Survival of the fittest. Worst case scenario, 200 million die worldwide, the rest are immune. Nonone is following these
Orders because we live in a free country where laws n rules don’t apply, so, what’s the point of all this?????

The economic fall out from this is MASSIVE! Got to agree there. But that’s probably because as a nation, we have the most powerful military on the planet.. but our lack of humanity for economic gain at this point will be our own inflammatory death and undoing. I have to say, I am not for this mantality.. “Sure your families and loved ones are dying.. so get back to work SLAVES” screw humanity, is not really a good attitude right now.. Back to work by Easter sounds crazy to me..

But.. There are a lot of people working their ass off right now risking their luved ones, and themselves for essential services.. but umm. I actually kinda think this quarantine is ass backwards. Older people, people at any sort of risk, or immune compromised should be the ones to quarantine.. with assistance. Old folks homes workers should be tested daily.. and Life should continue normal for the greater part of society. Least that’s the way I see it. But I am conflicted, because yesterday, I read an article about a 17 year old kid who died of Corona because he go turned down for health care. No pre existing conditions. So, maybe the “statistics” are full of shit!

Hope you can see your parents soon! I am very worried about mine! An extended family member in the Bay Area is in ICU fighting for his life! And he is not that old.. nor does he have “pre-existing conditions” So I hope that people understand this is serious, and to take it seriously.

The most important thing in my mind right now is to supply huge amounts of tests and control to essential production lines.

Food production industry, healthcare industry, police and fire, trucking industry, delivery industry.

These should be extremely high priority to protect at this point moving forward.

Health Officer Dr. Frankovich has made the decision since the identified patients are all in quarantine there is no need to violate their privacy.
No need?
Identifying the city would violate their privacy?
Too busy to put 13 dots on a map by city?
Bay area has a map with current numbers, not us.
I’m speculating they are all in the same area, thats what happens when government withholds information, speculation, rumors etc…

Riverside County has published a breakdown per city including the number of cases and deaths. They also documented the percentage of cases within age groups. Why not Humboldt?
