Trinity County Sheriff Protects Gun Rights by Extending CCW Permits by 90 Days
In an effort to minimize unnecessary contact and exposure to COVID-19, the Trinity County Sheriffs Office Administration has been closed to public walk-in services. This measure was decided after careful consideration on how to best protect TCSO staff as well as the public while continuing to offer emergency services.
This has temporarily eliminated the possibility for residents of Trinity County to renew their current CCW (Conceal Carry Weapons) Permits. That, combined with the inability to complete the state-required renewal qualification certification courses due to on-going shelter in place orders, has created an unique situation.
Your decision to legally possess a CCW is very important. As such, Sheriff Tim Saxon has extended the renewal period for Trinity County-issued CCW permits by 90 days.
Your permit will be considered valid within Trinity County during this time. This only applies to permits issued in Trinity County. This period could be extended should the situation surrounding the circumstances of the COVID-19 emergency go beyond the foreseeable future. Thank you for your understanding during this emergency situation

Thank you Sheriff Saxon.
Humboldt’s Sheriff Honsal needs to do the same extension, but 120 days
That’s excellent news!
Trinity co is WAY more on top of it than humboldt. Kudos and well done.
Not really.
Saxon is a good Sheriff, compared to many previous.
However on a separate note, Trinity County has way less resources than Humboldt – across the board.
Trinity is behind on testing in comparison to the behind on testing Humboldt.
We are increasing our testing capabilities on the State level, but Trinity is last on the list for Emerald Triangle, and 4th last in the State:

Beware of those extensions. In many cases they require payment in full for all built up debt as soon as the deferment period is up or they lien the property. It’s a cash grab played out in the desperate and uninformed.
Almost lost a plot of land in Palo Alto in 09 To a “hardship deferment”.
How does this apply to CCW?
Humboldt County Sheriff needs to do this, most definitely. However, they already are violating the 2nd amendment by dragging out the CCW renewal process. If you call after you turn in your renewal application they say they are processing, but the wait time is generally 2 1/2 months. I know of someone who waited over 3 1/2 months. Nobody turns in their renewal application 2 1/2 months early, because you have to qualify at the range no more than 60 days prior. Therefore, a CCW holder has to quit carrying for quite some time prior to reissuence. Interesting that Sacramento County issues in 7 to 10 days. According to the NRA the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office told their representatives they too were issuing in 7 to 10 days. They totally lied to the NRA. Wow! I wonder how many times they lie to the general public or local reporters. Time for a new Sheriff if you ask me. I also wonder what other parts of his job he has lied about.
It’s nice his deputies won’t arrest you if you have an expired license to carry a firearm. But it would be even better if they didn’t arrest people who can’t now go through the process of getting one and are carrying for self defense anyway.
Which I suspect is being done in these uncertain times due to desperate criminals getting more desperate by the day (their beloved pawn shops are closed) and recidivist criminal jail inmates are being released.
Thank you Sheriff Tim Saxon for extending the CCW permits for another three months. A very nice thing to do. Everyone at the TCSO stay safe!
Sheriff Lopey in Siskiyou Co has done the same 90-day extension for expiring CCWs.
Did u extent the 90 days to get your cc’d class done. Is Rodger Chatterton having his class in Oct this year…
