LOL, What and absolute dipshit. Yeah I’m sure it will be all good by Easter, with no meaningful restrictions on movement outside Seattle and New York.

My favorite part is when he said more people will commit suicide due to the economic collapse than will be killed by the virus. Hopefully it will be the CEO’s the reds tried to gift millions.

Been wondering why these reports say commercial lab data not available. That seems like a major no brainer to have both in the report!!
Cmon county health i know this is challenging but making sure we get every bit of info on testing in our county goes a long way for the public having faith in what you say.

Now that we have non faulty tests, the numbers are going to go up folks. Please don’t be all drama/omg/wtf. We’ve been warned. As many docs in Europe have said, just pretend you have the virus and act accordingly.
As we saw this wknd, people arent getting it.

Let’s hope its all hype and overkill.
There was a time that earthquake building codes&retrofitting were seen as overkill. A lot of people died proving that wrong.
Lets not learn things that way anymore.

Lets not blame any individual who is positive.
Lets ask why people arent being tested as they enter the country as many other countries are doing. Why when the WHO says test test test we are not.

Im curious if this group was on the cruise ship that was allowed to disembark in Miami.
Again not the passengers issue, many asked to be checked. I don’t care who the president is, you cant run a country very well when over 50% of agencies have no one in charge. Like it or not each agency is a spoke in the wheel that keeps us moving, some exist and we hope they are never needed. Like the small group who watched for potentisl pandemics, whose boss was released from his job last year.

This cruise ship situation should not be happening if the govt truly doesnt want to spread it…..

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to find the passenger lists off the 3 flights and to follow up on the local passengers/residents addresses. Those flights were 3-16.
Is this a game to purposely seed our area with carriers so the numbers explode and all shit hits the blades? Dr. Frankostein-get your act together!!!

Oh! as Dates. Xcept They were (on the date of) 3/16,18, and 20

it might take a warrant. It’s always been hard to get passenger data.
“Those flights were 3-16.”
What does that mean? Bible quote? flight number? There were 3 flights, one from LA to Arcata, one SF to Arcata, and one was Seattle to Medford. They would have had different flight numbers.

Airlines don’t share the information with law enforcement too easily. A local search warrant may not even be enough. Federal intervention is normally the only way to retrieve information about passengers from airlines.

I’ve been through the process.

It might be a different situation if it concerns the health and safety of passengers, with restrictions on how the information could be used so as to protect privacy, comply with the Fourth Amendment and such. If someone close to me were on a ventilator as a result of not being told of a hazard to them, following the letter of criminal warrant procedures might seem a little hollow as a reason.

Just a month ago we were being told “We have the BEST economy in the World”
Fast forward to the “Biggest economic bailout in U.S. history”

Maybe it was more fragile, and day-to-day for most Americans than they let on.

Nah!
Tips from the ‘Mnuch:

All you had to do was transfer all your vast stockmarket wealth to more secure bonds as you got older. Did that right? Now just live on that 6 months worth of cash savings you have, Right? At least theres 500 billion going to help the Titans of Industry, I’m sure they’ll kick down. Good thing you’ve been throwing $20,000 a year to Anthem Blue Cross, I’m sure they’ll cover all your $37,000 hospital bill. You will at least have fun getting out to enjoy the Healthcare Marketplace.

Why don’t you think stacking cages of various mammals from around the world for us to eat is an unlikely source of the new recombination? Other mammals get viruses.
The book “The Coming Plague” by Laurie Garret, plus many others have been warning of this for decades.
A fun read is Richard Preston’s book “the Hot Zone”. I think thats the one where he tells the craziest story you never heard of when the Marburg type virus came in with lab monkeys via the Philippines, to a facility in Reston Virginia, just outside D.C. One lab worker died. When the CDC tried to lock the place down they went in with full protective gear, and found a dumb ass employee in there with no mask or nothing, who went to work, found the front door taped off and locked, so did the logical thing, and let himself in a back door!

It is unavoidable all will get this virus all the shelter in place does is attempt to slow down the rate of infection so that the medical staff and resources can attempt to keep up and we do not have bodies stacked up like firewood. The strong will survive and those that aren’t will have a very hard time about it. With that in mind why is it so important to bankrupt and scare everyone ? Worst case is 2.2 million dead they are hoping that shelter in place will prolong the outbreak until a vaccine can be made which projections predict that it could cut that number by half to 1.1 million dead here in the USA. Personally I find it amusing how our planet always seems to find a way to balance the population every 100 years or so, reguardless of how smart we think we all are.

Effects of shelter in place won’t be felt at all for two weeks. Numbers are going to got up and then fall. How much and how quickly they will fall will reflect the degree of isolation. If it was 100% perfect the cases would drop to zero. My understanding is that the three new cases are related to travel. I would assume there is some community transmission under the radar. Diagnostic testing is well good, but we need mass surveillance testing to practice effective containment, and, in our wildest dreams we would have, results as you wait, point of care testing. As my Mom used to say, better late than never. Waiting for a Dickies or Haynes three ply cotton facemask.

The time to build hospitals, is before the epidemic…

State and Federal Leaders have failed to financially support, create, and to maintain even the system of healthcare we do have, and corporations have made a concerted effort to destroy the efficacy and level of patient safety, while they cut costs and cut staff and pay administrators millions…

Governor Newsom calls for 50,000 additional beds, but, hospitals take Doctors, Nurses, Lab Scientists, XRAY Techs and all the rest. Where you gonna get them at the last minute? Nationally, Government has failed to standardize licensing nationwide, and left the citizens with expensive insurance, Medicaid and Medicare that does not pay enough to operate a facility. Administrators, meanwhile, have no licensing and while there are many, few have acumen or real talent. Allowing churches to operate hospitals, meanwhile, is a sure recipe for disaster.

Fussing about positive tests seems likely only to increase the irrational fears of everyone! We have no “point of care” test, and recruiters are already offering $100/hour for techs to do the COVID-19 PCR in rapidly assembled labs! That’s quick math of $240,000/year, or, more than most physicians make… Many techs will leave their current jobs and become fodder for the new business of running the tests.

Most people will survive this. Tell your representatives and your governor that the time is now, and the need is greater than ever! Support healthcare workers with needed equipment, training and adequate facilities! Demand a future with reasonable cost healthcare that is widely available to everyone, and, not some silly “Medicare for all” scheme either…

Good luck, be safe, be well, be good to one another. This will pass.

Up til now our health care system has morphed into a way to siphon off all your savings in the last few months of life.
The American health care system as told by my Grandpa’s story: Grow up on the Farm, go to work for GE, Frigedaire Division, Wife has a job too as a nurse. Own a nice house in Dayton, Invest in an apartment building. get old, Grandma dies of kidney failure from some bad drug combo after hip surgery. Sell the apartment. Move to a bungalow at an assisted living facility ( for profit, but way cheap and nice compared to California), running out of money, ” Sorry Buddy,no money no stay” 2008 crisis, struggle to sell a beautiful 3,000 ft sq. house in Ohio for $70,000. Won’t cover less than a year at a shitty depressing place closer to family in Eureka.
” Oh you have to spend down all his money before Medicare kicks in”
Down to zero a month or two before death.
Instead of being able to give $50,000 or whatever to each of his Great Grand kids, it was transferred from our family to the wealthy Brius healthcare owner so that his family can better enjoy their time in Calabasas, or wherever.

AND:

Here is something you can do now:

Living will. Advance directive. Power of Attorney. DNR.

Excellent advice from Dr Harold Cross MD:

COVid-19 PNEUMONIA and RESPIRATORS
The pandemic of COVid-19 and the concern about supply of respirators is causing fear and unrealistic concern. Let me explain. Those who develop severe difficulty breathing due to damage to their lungs in the special case of this kind of pneumonia and put on a respirator(ventilator) have an endotracheal tube inserted through the mouth and into the trachea. They will likely be on a respirator for 7-20 days . With this tube in place – one cannot talk, take fluids or food. After 7 days, it is usually best to perform a tracheotomy, to preserve the vocal cords. Under those conditions, some fluids and food might be taken in, depending on the severity of overall condition. The care required in this condition – bedridden, turned to prone position daily for a few hours, IV fluid and parenteral nutrition (food), requires skilled providers & special equipment to monitor the patient. The outcome even with this care may not be successful.

One needs to make their own personal decision about end of life care, quality of life while they have that ability. One’s DNR (do not resuscitate) instructions need to be very specific. This is especially relevant for those over age 60, those with serious heart, lung and kidney conditions, and those immunocompromised. It is your decision, not the physician’s to make. Each person needs to make their desires known to their immediate family, their power of attorney (POA) and to the physician treating them. Things happen very quickly in the emergency situation, and once the person is on a respirator, deciding to stop is a difficult one.
My experience as a Christian physician, Emergency Medicine 20 years, and family practice 30 years and as a parent who has witnessed two of our sons (ages 61 and 69) die with lethal conditions that severely affected their breathing led me to urge you to be prepared. Both opted for comfort, receiving liquid morphine and anti-anxiety meds – given by family members and hospice staff. They were clear in their minds until about 24 hours before their deaths. These meds were used to control their feelings of breathlessness, suffocation.

The crisis of ‘supply of respirators’ while real, is only a part of the problem. Given appropriate information on what being on a respirator entails, and the difficulty of supplying the care needed for patients on total ventilation – some, if not many people will opt out of being placed on a respirator. In that event, the ‘demand’ for respirators would be lessened.

The bottom line for each person – is quality of life OR duration. Sometimes ‘hanging on’ for the last breath, is agonizing for both patient and family. We need to make up our mind in advance about our desires, so that loved ones can honor them. Gwanda’s book: Being Mortal may help in your decision making on issues of quality of life, it is rich in real life examples.

Harold Cross MD HHI, SC 29928 03/23/2020 Filename: COV-19. Respirators.ab

Be safe, be well, be good! Abandon your irrational fears, help others.

We’ve been phuked by a genetically modified SARS and Coronovirus strain from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Wonder why this is being covered up? Maybe because China would be bombed…

Should a country be held liable for creating and spreading the flu every year? Yes! Virtually every strain of the flu originates from China.

In 2005, a group including researchers from the Wuhan Institute of Virology published research into the origin of the SARS coronavirus, finding that China’s horseshoe bats are natural reservoirs of SARS-like coronaviruses.[6] Continuing this work over a period of years, researchers from the Institute sampled thousands of horseshoe bats in locations across China, isolating over 300 bat coronavirus sequences

In 2015, the Institute published successful research on whether a bat coronavirus could be made to infect HeLa. A team from the Institute engineered a hybrid virus, combining a bat coronavirus with a SARS virus that had been adapted to grow in mice and mimic human disease. The hybrid virus was able to infect human cells

In December 2019, cases of pneumonia associated with an unknown coronavirus were reported to health authorities in Wuhan. The Institute checked its coronavirus collection and found the new virus was 96 percent identical to a sample its researchers had taken from horseshoe bats in southwest China.

Any thoughts?

Conspiracy theories abound, as you would expect. Doesn’t change facts on the ground. Take care of our elder neighbors and stay home. And a tip for Kitty: dont believe everything you read online. Look for a solid news source with a history of reliability, or you become part of the problem! The loss of KHSU to our community in No Hum is huge. It’s getting pretty third world lately.

When it comes to percentages in microbiology, 96% identical is actually vastly different. Mutations can be caused by one or two changes in nucleic acids, these can happen over and over again since RNA strands are not “proofread” by the organism. This causes genetic variation in almost all samples. When one is looking for similarities at a microbiological level, organisms are deemed “similar” with less than 1% variation, related with a tenth of a percent of variation. Samples can still vary greatly within that tenth of a percent.

Made it out of the bat reservoir by butchering bats at markets. Theres a 60 min. Australia segment from only two weeks ago where they’re still butchering bats on tape, maybe in Thailand. Why would identifying the virus in bats prevent it from evolving, and later jumping species?
Humans have only a 1% genetic variation with mice, just saying.

Should check out the study by Oxford University in the Financial Times. If it proves correct the UK may lift their quarantine. The article came out yesterday. Read it for yourselves. In a nutshell, it states that over half the UK was already infected with the coronavirus. Remember, initially the UK said it was going to quarantine their high risk population and the allow the virus to spread to build herd immunity. That idea was canned after their version of the CDC said it was a bad idea. If this study proves correct, it will significantly lower the death rate. The virus was first detected in early March in the UK. The preliminary study shows it had been over there since January.
