Steelhead Spotting…

With little rainfall this February, usually one of the wettest months for the North Coast, streams, creeks, and rivers are running low (so low that the Eel River at Sylvandale is lower than at any other time on the same date clear back to 2003 ), fish lovers are worried.

However, a reader sent us the above video of one steelhead resting under a rock in a tributary of the Mad River on February 24. The video pans to show the steep rocky waterway that the fish still managed to navigate–nature finding a way.

That was left up from last year, there are no warnings yet. The rivers have to be warm

So true!
Eel River Flows Still Too Low and it is disastrous for coho salmon, because he needs to be in the water a full year before running out to the ocean

It happens, most of you are too naive. It will rain and the fish will run up then. Sophie, coho have spawned, this is about steelhead
