Trinity Co. DHHS Asks Residents Who Have Traveled to Hubei Province, China, or Have Had Direct Contact With Someone Who Has to Contact Them
Press release from Trinity County Health and Human Services:
The Trinity County Public Health Department is working closely with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, which originated in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China in December 2019.
As of today, there have been no cases identified in Trinity County and only 14 cases in the United States, with no deaths. All identified California cases are related to travel in Hubei Province, China. Currently, the immediate health risk from the coronavirus to the general public in California is very low.
There is no evidence of sustained person-to-person transmission of the virus.
Public health officials are continuously learning about this virus. Trinity County Public Health, alongside our local, regional, and state-wide partners will continue to closely monitor the situation.
It is important that persons who are residing in Trinity County who have recently traveled to Hubei Province, China, or have had direct contact with a person with this recent travel history, contact the Trinity County Public Health Department at 530-623-8209 (toll free 1-800-766- 6147), so we can provide education and guidance.

When it is stated “no evidence of sustained person-to-person transmission of the virus” what is it meant by “sustained”? Seems to me that the person to person transmission of the virus would be sustained if they were not quarantined. Now that it has increased substantially in cases in South Korea, Iran, and Italy it is time to take it to a higher level. If is not too late, that is. Sounds like TC is doing more than other county health officials are doing in other areas. Call me so I can quarantine you (at home of course).
Before the comments section devolves into a conspiracy fest, I wanted to relay that through his mother who is a close friend I get regular updates from her son who is in a University town outside Wuhan at ground zero. He is an Engrish teacher there and in the early days of the virus was asked to go to the hospital to translate patient symptoms into engrish. Except for extreme boredom from the lock down life sound pretty much normal, they do do a lot of volunteering when it is needed, anyway, it is not the zombie apocalypse.
You are talking about a 1% infection rate at the epicenter where everything is locked down, that is a 1 in 100 chance. Given that 1 in 8 need hospitalization, that is a 1 in 800 chance of getting a serious case and your chance of dying isn’t even worth calculating. As seen in other countries outside of China, quarantine lock downs have been initiated at much lower percentage rates, so if there is a small outbreak and they quarantine your chances are 1 in 1, an absolute certainty. If people are worried, that is what it should be about and the economic effects of no economic activity for a few weeks, no income, no shopping, etc.
Not to say that it isn’t an issue, the numbers above would translate to 1500 people in Humco needing hospitalization and that would absolutely be an healthcare crisis. Wash your hands and be as sanitary as possible.
Yes, wash your hands. In any situation like a school or business, or home it’s always a good practice to clean and disinfect surfaces that many people touch; door handles, keypads, shopping cart handles, countertops and the like.
My number was off above, that would be about 200 people in Humco needing hospitalization (and about 30 deaths), still, that would be a crisis for the healthcare community. As opposed to EVERYONE being quarantined for weeks with no income, shopping etc. Wash your hands.
What’s up Chuck You are sounding dam trumup like with your snide little remarks
Which did you consider “snide”?
🕯🌳Well your friend is teaching “Englrish”.🖖🇺🇸👁
Ya, I am desensitized from a lifetime of my Spanish being laughed at in Mex and Cent Am.
The more widely experience or at least well read know that making jokes at the expense of foreign is common in every place in the world. China being no exception.
And only Americans seem to think it’s ok to abuse their fellow citizens for making fun of foreigners for mistakes in trying to speak the local language.
Besides Engrish is a phenomenon so common as to be defined in the dictionary. And the Chinese government is trying to fix it. https://qz.com/1012978/china-issues-translation-guidelines-for-signs-because-its-tired-of-bad-englishengrish-tarnishing-its-image/ One of the sites guaranteed to make me laugh after dealing with the self righteous killjoys of the world is http://www.engrish.com/page/721/ where simple juxtaposing incongruous words is funny.
DHS is saying no worries. And if they are wrong it’s ok, we will not hold them accountable for talking like they know when they dont actually know. This is California, say what you want you will not be heald accountable!!
Humboldt County is incapable of any secure stage 4 isolations for anyone(?). I don’t think the hospitals ever projected any plan for such an event to occur. If they had locations in place locally, the 2 self quaranteened CV carriers would be there right now and not at home Otherwise, anyone contaminated would be immediately transported to a larger city where isolation is possible. So we now know our County is “up the creek” for isolation policies and procedures and training.
Trinity County DHHS- you deserve a pat on the back being proactive.
As for Humboldt’s DHHS-I’m waiting for you to take your heads out of your -ss and do something right!
They do have the capability but only those needing hospital care would be there. People well enough to take care of themselves stay home with guidance.
The article says…. As of today, there have been no cases identified in Trinity County and only 14 cases in the United States, Huh?
When was this written? I thought there was at least 14 in California.

The City of Costa Mesa, California, located about an hour south of Los Angeles, is suing to stop the federal government from relocating as many as 50 people diagnosed with the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19) to a local “dilapidated” complex surrounded by residential neighborhoods.
Confirmation comes from the CDC and they only update Mondays, Wednesday’s and Fridays.
Study: Elderberries Block Flu Virus From Attaching To and Entering Human Cells
https://realfarmacy.com/study-elderberries-flu/
New study determines how elderberries are able to stop the flu virus dead in its tracks.
A chemical compound has been discovered within elderberries that immobilizes the flu virus.
Previous studies have demonstrated elderberries ability to relieve flu symptoms and cut the duration of the illness in half, but a new study explains how this ancient remedy works.
When taken preventively, the unique phytochemicals found in elderberries block the virus from entering, and even from attaching to, our healthy cells.
If the flu has already taken hold, this compound prevents the virus from replicating, thus relieving symptoms and drastically reducing the duration of infection.
Researchers in the study used farmed elderberries (as opposed to wild ones which you can find) which were then turned into a juice serum. The serum was applied to cells before, during, and after they had been infected with the influenza virus.
can’t hurt can it.

“
ICTV announced “severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)” as the name of the new virus on 11 February 2020. This name was chosen because the virus is genetically related to the coronavirus responsible for the SARS outbreak of 2003. While related, the two viruses are different. “
What name does WHO use for the virus?
From a risk communications perspective, using the name SARS can have unintended consequences in terms of creating unnecessary fear for some populations, especially in Asia which was worst affected by the SARS outbreak in 2003. “
