Similar Name to Mother Arrested for Shooting her Son Causes Issues for Retired EPD Employee

Hello my name isThe tragic death of a 17-year-old at the hands of his mother, Pamela Faye Millsap (age 38 of Eureka) who was arrested last night and charged with voluntary manslaughter also caused difficulties for a local woman and retired employee of the Eureka Police Department, Pamlyn Millsap (whose maiden name was Hentz).

The similar name caused confusion and, at least one individual posted that the person arrested for the shooting was also known as Pamlyn Hentz and correctly gave her former job as the homeless coordinator for the County of Humboldt and EPD homeless liaison but wrongly attributed the jobs to the Pamela Millsap who was arrested.

Pamlyn, the retired EPD employee who is much older than the woman arrested, said this had caused her extreme distress. “I had a person ask if I had bailed out of jail while I was shopping in Safeway,” she wrote. “My son in law…applied for a job he didn’t get and wonders how this will impact him. He actually used my name on multiple job applications in the past day or so and then this happened…[H]e wonders if he didn’t get one job because of it and he also is worried that he won’t get other jobs due to it…This has wasted my whole day and I am not even sure how it has impacted my family and friends. I was afraid to leave my house today other than to go to EPD and take care of things I couldn’t avoid doing…[T]his also harmed the good staff at EPD. There are many people who already don’t like law enforcement… .”

We hope this removes the confusion. Pamlyn Millsap has gone above and beyond her job to assist a number of people over the years.

I had thought of her when I heard the name and remembered Pamlyn vs Pamela. Plus I had met Pamlyn several times and knew this couldn’t be her because she is a very nice lady and professional. It is sad how people rush to judgement without seeking facts.

Real sorry this wasted and ruined her “whole day”
There is a young man dead and many people impacted in the family …that is being judged before trial by the constant open ignorant mouths

Likely her life will be changed for a LONG time because of the idiot that couldn’t get his facts straight. It’s horrible what happened to the 17year old but this a-hole needs to pay for potentially ruining this innocent person’s life and her family as well!

It is typical Chiv. Thinks he knows everything. Did he apologize? Sue his ass. He needs a comeuppance with the way he treats victims and people in general. He isn’t a journalist. He is a blogger plain and simple. And not a very good one at that.

“Social media” should more accurately be called “digital gossip”.

Just say no to hearsay.

Do not participate in neighborhood watch websites. Get to know your neighbors in person. The internet breeds bad juju.

It wasn’t a neighborhood watch website that made the false accusation, it was a “news” “blog” pretending to be a legitimate source of accurate information. Some people in the community assume the blogger is credible because they agree with his political views, then he frequently does things like this.

It’s a kindness to use the power of the press for such a clarification. I wondered about the similarities in the name for second or two then of course decided they were not identical. It’s simply easy to get wires crossed. As one man named Ronald Reagan introduced himself by immediately saying “Not that Ronald Reagan”, I’m sure this confusion will pass too.

Thank you Kym for first of all getting it right to begin with. Secondly, for publicly stating what John Chiv should have done himself, though you shouldn’t have to clean up his mess. I know that when an error occurs here (generally by commentors) , you always make the appropriate correction.

Mr chiv’s “reputation” isn’t even based on truth as he portrays himself as a “professional reporter” yet acts in an extremely UNPROFESSIONAL manner and is actually a blogger. His victims will be affected for a long time by his ineptitude. He needs to be sued for slander and character assassination, emotional abuse, anything related.

Mr Chiv is nothing but a blog gossiper. During Matt Browns trial for murdering Niel Decker Chiv printed,, I will put it politely, what he thouht he overheard family and friends of Niel Decker saying outside the courtroom. He was wrong, wrong, wrong but his words fed the gossip lovers and formed negative opinions based on error, Im being polite again, to which he never retracted or corrected.

Karma as she did not help many people in fact ruined some lives. I met a lady who suffered greatly . She also seemed to have zero interest in helping real victims who were not in drugs nor drink and good citizens. It’s always about the money and image never integrity it seems.
