Mother of Last Night’s Shooting Victim Arrested for Manslaughter

A first report from the scene last night relayed by a dispatcher said that the caller was afraid the son was going to strike his mother. This was followed soon after by the report of a shot.
Officers were on the scene quickly where they found a 17-year-old male with a gunshot wound. Lifesaving efforts were futile.

In addition, a cat and several pet mice died in a fire at the home where the shooting took place. Firefighters responded to that fire about 6:40 a.m. [UPDATE 10:09 a.m., Brittany Powell, spokesperson for Eureka Police Department tells us that her department was “briefed by Humboldt Bay Fire on the fire this morning and it is being considered unrelated to our investigation.”]

OMG. Wow.. just wow.. What the hell is wrong with the world? Entirely sad. So much crime in the news lately it seems.

Well, I’m telling you something as a parent. First of all, my kids would never lay a hand on me second of all if they did I certainly wouldn’t shoot them and kill them. Clearly and obviously I don’t know the circumstances but still I think this is a bunch of BS. This counties Criminal Justice System is atrocious
You’re right about that they plea bargain too much up here to save money people like that kitchens woman she’s not even she’s almost out of prison if she’s not already and she killed her daughter and her daughter’s friend or a nice I heard both and then it took them forever and let her go loose wherever she wanted to go out of the country out of the state ridiculous how they plea-bargain up here I was at the mall with my granddaughter and I had just finished taking my dog to pet PetSmart she was in the car exactly 2 minutes and 15 seconds because I had receipts a drunk lady called the sheriff and I got a ticket she kicked an open container of Mike’s hard liquor out of her car and the sheriff let her drive off and I got the dog ticket cuz you cannot leave your dog in the car but it was January so I took him to court and the judge said yes you can’t leave a dog in the car but he was angry with the sheriff for sure

If you knew how the kids are raised now days , you might think different. Video games and porn and drugs Love is just a word now days
