A youth is dead after a shooting about 7:25 p.m. in the 2200 block of Union Street in Eureka.

The incident is first reported over the scanner as a family dispute about 7:23 p.m. Then quickly after that comes a report that a 17-year-old male has a gunshot wound. Followed by a report that CPR is in progress.

Nazy Javid of North Coast News reported that the young male died on the way to the hospital.

Eureka Police Chief Steve Watson tweeted, “I can confirm EPD is investigating an apparent homicide that occurred in a residence on the 2200 block of Union Street around 7:30 PM tonight. Officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance there. While officers were still en route, a caller reported a shot had been fired.”

He added, “Upon arrival, officers found a severely injured male, around age 17, inside with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers began life saving efforts and the male was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. No suspects are believed to be outstanding.”

In addition, he tweeted, “This is an active investigation in its preliminary stages. Investigators are on scene and will be working through the night. We will release more information once we know more and can responsibly do so.”

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

It was a homicide not necessarily a murder. It could have been self defense shooting. Wait until EPD releases more.

The crime scene was set on fire after this murder. How could that happen unless someone wanted the evidence destroyed? Murder scenes are supposed to be secured right? The amount of unreported murders of young people since the Sheriff took over as coroner is inexcusable. Young lives matter. They matter the most. RIP

The house was set on fire to cover up a crime? Is wade Harris still in jail?

What’s going on is another day of an overpopulated, stressed out, hungry, desperate world.
Prepare or become a victim. It’s up to you. Die sober.

Hey but the stock market is doing well. Don’t we all own a bunch of stocks? Well even if you don’t, the rich are sure to trickle it down to you.

Just dont look at job growth rates compared to obummer, or in what sectors job growth had occurred, and for damn sure dont try to understand how the unemployment rate is determined.

The fact that you may or may not own stocks is your own fault . You don’t have to be rich to buy into the stock market. Medium risk money market investing is a simple as a couple of clicks.

That’s the American dream! As long as you work hard, never get sick, maintain good credit and get lucky in the stock market, one day you’ll be able to barely afford a pretty nice funeral!

Of course, if you don’t work, are born sick, screw up your credit and think you can pick stocks based on long shots, the government will certainly be the ones giving you a funeral. Although it won’t be nice.

As to being disabled and earning you way into wealth, I had a grandfather who was a paraplegic before age 18, died at 42 and his wife lived on his savings for the next 40 years. And the first disabled person I ever interviewed was a quadriplegic who was rolled into my office, having taken time off from his very successful company created when he got tired of doing nothing. And even a lady with severe paranoia who I was trying to help get housing turned out to have saved $50,000 because, when she did work, she saved 90% of it. It is not always easy but generally always possible.

So many broken lives… and this boy’s life is irreparably broken.

Any clue?

If this woman was so afraid of her son, than why did she have a loaded firearm within anyone’s reach in the house? She doesn’t look like she had been beaten on in her mug shot. Where were all the other people who lived in that home at 6:30am?? There was no reason to grab a gun. This kid actually had his stuff together and was on his way out of Eureka. The house burning down should tell this community this family has lost more than one person should have to endure in a lifetime & to show some empathy.
