Last night about 9:20, a passenger vehicle went over a 50-60 foot embankment near the south Confusion Hill bridge.

The driver escaped the vehicle before the flames engulfed it. According to a representative of Leggett Fire, “A small puppy about 6 weeks old was discovered by rescue personnel behind a redwood tree…” that must have fled the vehicle after the wreck.

Leggett Fire, Piercy Fire, and the California Highway Patrol assisted at the scene.

NOTE: The original post’s title incorrectly failed to mention that a CHP officer assisted in the puppy’s rescue. We’ve remedied that in this update.

The driver is very lucky to be alive, along with the puppy. Very lucky to have escaped the vehicle before the fire. Thank you to all the first responders that came to help. I thank God knowing you are there at anytime of the day or night when I drive that road.
