‘Criminal Assault on the Democratic Process,’ Says Fire Department After Multiple Yes on Measure U Signs Stolen

Yes on Measure U sign.

‘You need us. We need “U”! Yes on “U”
Telegraph Ridge Volunteer Fire Department

Press release from the Telegraph Ridge Volunteer Fire Department:

Telegraph Ridge Fire Protection district has put measure ‘U’ on the ballot to increase the per parcel fee in their district. In their campaign to pass this measure,  hand-crafted, cardboard on plywood signs were put up along the Ettersburg Road.

Although the Ettersburg Road is a public right of way, all the property along the road is private. The Telegraph Ridge Volunteer Fire Department asked and received the property owners permission to post the signs, and placed their name on every sign.

Within a few days, no on ‘U’ signs were anonymously placed adjacent to the yes on ‘U’ signs. Whoever is working against measure ‘U’ has chosen to not identify themselves. Whether they asked, or received, the owners permission to post, is unknown.

On Saturday night virtually all the yes on ‘U’ signs were torn down and stolen. A theft report was filed with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department.

Although disappointed to discover this criminal assault on the democratic process, The Telegraph Ridge Volunteer Fire Department will continue to work toward the passage of ballot measure ‘U’, which it considers crucial for the future of local emergency fire and medical responses in the Ettersburg area.

Because we’re being taxed into ruin and towards homelessness in California already!!! Were being taxed so that the California government can spend the money to form new bureaucracys to turn around and extort us into ruin and homelessness. All the while saying there fixing the homeless crisis. HELLO ANYBODY HOME !!!!! you’re making the homeless crisis worse!!!!! PS nothing against the fire Departments there needed and don’t think the democratic process should be hindered. But we live in the most expensive region in the country with no jobs and a theiving, extorting government .we’re up shit creek without a paddle and measure o was already passed.its always more, more, more !!!!! Leave the people to barely survive!!!!!

I never thought I’d say this to someone but why don’t you save yourself the constant mental anguish and just fu*king MOVE. Your incessant whining is getting so old. California is NOT going to magically turn Red. California is not perfect and if you prefer a Red State move to one of the poor ones in the South. Sounds more your speed.
OR, are you just trolling for agitation? Rile people up for the fun of it? Seems like it with your daily broken record.

No because it’s the same old faux outrage, not fact checked, EVER. It’s the same repeated bot/troll comments I see from fake accounts on IG. Same old shit, new day. And that’s MY opinion after reading the uninspired , ignorant bs from the “right ” for years now.
Let’s hear about Hillary, that never gets old for you bots.

And I’m well aware that you are probably him. Old games, new day. Yawn…

No Guest, that’s not why.

I have never called Ullr a troll, and he and I go on forever about many things. You and I have too.

You’re individuals with opinions that I very often disagree with. Mike, too. Hell most of you I disagree with most the time.

The point of a troll is to disrupt, confuse and misiniform. They have nothing to do with opinions or discussion.

“we live in the most expensive region…”

Most expensive “regions” in the USA:

1. New York City, New York
2. San Francisco, California
3. Honolulu, Hawaii
4. Boston, Massachusetts
5. Washington, D.C.
6. Oakland, California
7. San Jose, California
8. San Diego, California
9. Los Angeles, California
10. Miami, Florida

Last I checked, Humboldt wasn’t San Francisco.

Of course not, but the Getty family is real. Now do your homework and research the connections between the Getty cabal, Brown, Pelosi, and Newsom.

Your Soviet style gas lighting is duly noted. Now, if you have the courage, Google Getty and any three of the aforementioned “politicians”. You can do this, because all you have to do is type 2 words. I believe in you, and know you can do it. Aren’t you interested in who’s pulling your strings?

Okay, America is an oligrarchy, no surprise there. Political campaigns don’t pay for themselves. That’s why we need to reverse Citizen’s United and get money out of politics, and publically fund elections.

None of those people live in San Fransico, though, so I don’t know what you were getting at with that nonsense.

FYI:

William Alfred Newsom III (February 15, 1934 – December 12, 2018) was an American state appeals court judge, administrator of the Getty family trust, and the father of former San Francisco Mayor, former Lieutenant Governor of California, and Governor of California Gavin Newsom.
Died: December 12, 2018, San Francisco
Born: February 15, 1934
Nationality: American

The Getty family nurtured Gavin from Grade school and beyond————-you’ll find similar connections to Pelosi and Brown.

Ca. Government works out of Sacramento.

And they are representatives chosen through elections.

Rulers are for measuring length, generally small sizes, you might want one.

I don’t have rulers. I use measuring tape.

I use a theodolite for order one work which requires a precision of 1 in 100,000. Common knowledge in my field is the only folks that use tapes, and measure in inches, are prostitutes and carpenters.

Nice try. You always apply the wong statistics to make a (troll) point? Note, those cities are all metro areas over 500k population. Not included (like s working link you failed to provide) is anything smaller.

Try this one as it seems we have to do the work: https://www.apartmentlist.com/rentonomics/california-rent-report-rentonomics/

Median statewide for a 1-bdr is $1750 and $2110 for 2-bdr. Somewhat lower if you exclude the very top regions as that tends in incorrectly skew the data.

Eureka is listed at $890 for a 1-bdr. We are considerably under the median. Seriously, if you’re going yo troll for reading material later, at least use relevant statistics.

Ironically enough I’ve heard of several fires and been a part of one myself where local civilians were fighting the fire and the local fire department showed up and demanded that everyone pull back because it was too dangerous and the locals continued fighting it til it was out. The one I helped on would of undoubtedly burned my neighbors house down if we hadn’t continued fighting it against the yelling of the suited up firefighters. Not that this happens every time but buying new gear doesn’t speed up response time or increase dedication. In rural areas the fire department is never the first on scene

oh, come on, you libertarians! These signs were on PRIVATE PROPERTY!! Whoever took them down was violating their neighbors’ PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHTS. Argue all you want about Measure U itself, the fire department, and “socialism” v. whatever — but removing signs on private property violates the owners’ right to use their property as they see fit, which supposedly is a core belief of yours — and then of course there’s the right to free speech, which you also theoretically believe in, whining about how “political correctness” interferes with your right to free speech. Do you guys ever listen to yourselves?

This has shades of crossing a line that existed in So Hum communities for the first few decades after the ‘Alternative Community’ settled these hills.
During those decades, people would not take down any message on the bulletin boards, no matter what the content. (While many times provocative, during that time, I don’t recall any post or sign that was hugely offensive or violent in nature. That reflects the community was a little more sane then). There was an unwritten rule that meant FREEDOM OF SPEECH is tantamount. Then, as our communities became seen more as a place to make money than a quality environment to live (and yes, there was both going on, but those living here generally treasured their land, community and independence).
Sad to see that the political environment has eroded our respect for our mutual rights at free speech and advocacy, especially, as in this case, when it applies to supporting such a mutually valuable resource as the VFD.

Half the signs out there are placed on public right of way, they should all be yanked! When has someone’s yard sign convinced you to vote for that person? If it did you are a moron, and a good example of why yard signs should be post card sized and only allowed on private property after paying tax for it. Some folks just can’t keep their identity politics to themselves.

Peter is the biggest hypocrite known to man! He refused to apply for grants and or equipment from government agencies for decades. He hates the government which many of us don’t like but now supports raising our taxes. Don’t trust him, don’t like him for his hypocrisy …

You are misinformed. I don’t know where you get your information, but it’s wrong. I have applied for and received grants from public agencies and private philanthropic organizations for the Telegraph Ridge Volunteer Fire Department.
I have been a government employee in the past. I believe in our form of government and the democratic process. This isn’t about me, it’s about the future of emergency services in our area.
Whoever stole our signs is a coward and has violated federal election laws.
Whoever put up the ‘No’ signs (without the property owners permission) is apparently afraid to use their real name. I stand behind what I say and use my name.
Community members in our fire district, if you want prompt, trained emergency response when you dial 911, VOTE YES ON MEASURE ‘U’.

Facts, he has personally said this to me and to others in my presence. If you don’t believe me, ask him why he has not submitted proposals for grants until recently? Ask him why he has t submitted for gear and equipment from the government like almost every other department? The fact is well known how he has felt, until he almost lost his leadership role. Glad he is now on the bandwagon but, now he wants us all to pay for his beliefs of several decades.

I submitted my first CALFire matching grant about 20 years ago, and there were many others that followed. How do you think TRVFD got pagers, radios, helmets, nomex and all the other PPE’s, years before there were measure ‘Z’ funds available?
If you’re going to call them facts you should get them straight before you write. But I guess that isn’t necessary, as long as you can remain anonymous. I stand behind what I say, will you?
