Honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Support Local Youth at 20th Annual Bowl of Beans Benefit

The 20th Annual Bowl of Beans Benefit will take place on Monday, January 20. This event honors Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and supports local youth.

The Bowl of Beans Benefit is sponsored in partnership with Arcata Elementary School and the City of Arcata’s Recreation Division, and funds raised at this fun-filled event support Arcata Recreation’s Youth Scholarship Fund for the Arts and Arcata Elementary School’s Art Program.

Attendees will enjoy a delicious meal of rice and beans and performances by Arcata Elementary School students, the Arcata Interfaith Gospel and Youth Choir, storyteller Baba Jamal Koram, Asha Nan and more. Guests will also have the opportunity to win fabulous raffle prizes generously donated by local businesses.

The Bowl of Beans Benefit will take place on Monday, January 20 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Arcata Community Center, located at 321 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway.

General admission is $8 and $6 for youth and seniors. All proceeds will benefit the Arcata Recreation Youth Scholarship Fund for the Arts and Arcata Elementary School’s Art Program.
