A good man is gone.
Don was a truly kind man. He was positive, upbeat, compassionate, generous, and funny. He was such an enlightened person, and he always helped everyone. He rarely got angry, and he never said bad things about people.
Don grew up in Kansas City, and attended Dartmouth College, Kansas State, and the S.F. Art Institute. He started living in Whale Gulch off and on in the late 60’s, and served on several community boards of the years, where he added a grounded, common sense presence.
Don loved exotic cars, old time country music, sailing, art, nature, alternative healing, and a good laugh. And of course Don loved his family.
He is survived by his loving partner Artiel, his two sisters Mary Rosenbaum and Katy Horner, his three children Linden McGreevy Darling, Evan McGreevy, and Sarah McGreevy Edwards. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, many nieces and nephews, and all his friends and community members. He was especially happy to spend time with grandson Jared McGreevy, nephew Wesley Horner, and niece Mariya Cree, who all live in Northern California.
He was a good friend to so many, and we all miss him terribly.
There will be a celebration of Don’s life later in the spring.
“It will help you on your way,
It will brighten up your day,
If you keep on the sunny side of life.”

At this moment I can not find the words to express what Don meant to me, but I will. I send much love to his family and a special hug to his daughter, Sarah. I hold you in my heart.

Don was a gentle soul. His photo, posted here, is exactly how I remember him. He always greeted me with that big smile.

Truly a wonderful fella, with a huge heart. I appreciate him allowing my husband Scott Morris drive his classic corvette in the SCCA school back in the early 90’s. He stories and smile was contagious. Thoughts and prayers to his entire family.

Don was a very special friend. He was so committed to being alive, to being well, to helping others. He loved life, and food, and being present and connecting – architecture, art, photography, planes, cars, design, nature, the ocean, being free, research, on and on his brilliant mind would go. He cared so much about the earth and the planet. We met when I was at my most ill. He was kind, caring, drove me to appointments and to get out in nature, cooked for me, took phone calls for me….he was generous beyond belief and never asked anything in return. I have cherished his friendship for almost 20 years. What heartbreaking news. You will be missed my friend. Be in peace. We will carry on the torch.
