Im telling you. This wasn’t as prevalent when weed was illegal. Workers actually got paid percentages and made thousands a month. Nowadays they are paid 25$ an hour while legal scenes make millions on the black market, than wonder why there peasants rip them off. This will only get more common. Good job California. I’ll let “cannabis is legal” take over from here…. lol

You just made a pretty wild assumption that these dudes were trimmers . My guess is they were shady buyers that knew the victim , maybe did a deal with him a few times and knew where he keeps his pounds . Finish carpenters in some states make less than 25 bucks an hour

What assumption makes u think that? Who in the fuk pays trimmers 25 bucks an hour? Better yet, who in the fuk trims for 25 bucks an hour?

Not as much as you think, we let potential thieves know they werent welcome. I used to call the stories Humboldt grimm fairy tales, like how good a body decomposes in an outdoor shitter and such. Just warnings woven into a story. We watched out for one another and warned about certain folks. Anyone not recognized on our road were stopped and asked whom they were visiting. If they couldn’t answer they would be escorted out.

Plus there wasnt an easy to get list of growers complete with addresses and names of every grow. Legalization has made it a 1000 times easier to find grows&those growers homes thus its 1000 times more dangerous, hands down.
Back in the day we went after thieves and to be honest i rarely heard of these types of robberies, with masked gunmen gang style. It was way more common for a buyer to rip you off. It was more scary to have the cops come, they terrorized everyone even small children, pointing automatic guns at their temples and shooting our pet dogs in front of the kids. For 6 plants, maybe 2 pounds worth.
Hey thieves we still have some good techniques & eventually youre gonna come across the armed growers and end up in a hole.
Legalization has made growers targets.
Heres to the black market, long may the true outlaws survive!!!!!
You’re literally putting your family in danger by going legal. Dont do it!!!

RE: Gov’t Cheese… $25/hr in your dreams. Not in this County. It’s more like minimum wage to $15/hr before taxes with zero job safety or a healthy respectful work environment. The good people got pushed out by the corporate a$$hole ideology types. They’ll blame it on taxes, fees etc but their bottom line comes first.

Minimum wage goes up to $15 an hour in 2020, which is a few days. I find it hard to believe that permitted farms will be able to find people willing to do back breaking labor in sweltering heat for minimum wage. Especially when they could work at the in n out IN town and get paid the same amount plus benefits.

California license plates usually have this type of formatting: 6TPW000 to 8NXW347 (as of December 27, 2019) i.e.: Number, letter, letter, letter, number, number, number.

Was this incorrectly ID’d as a CA plate? Maybe an out-of-state plate?

All your trimmers? 20 k a month? So your 20 trimmers made 20k?Or 20 k a piece in a month? In my books, trimmers are not “workers”, there trimmers. Yes, they get paid 10% at 150 a P. Far better than the soil huffing, tarp pulling workers of today. Asians are the best trimmers ever! Make Spaniards look like snails.

Trimmers “are not ‘workers’ “ in your books? That’s crazy right there. You have a lousy business plan or are extremely vague on the concept or are completely phony from the get-go.

Everybody working in the business is a worker. Every employee is a worker. Any other rationale is just an excuse to screw employees. Pay scales may vary, but “worker” applies across the board.

Lynn H

If *all* of the trimmers are @ 5 lbs pr day that is by shaking it dry in a box and grating leaf off the sides and bottom of a grated bin, or hand skimming before trimming and breaking up medium bud. Most likely loosing 15% at best, possibly 20% of total yield. Which is why people pay more for shake nowadays… lots of broken bud chips.

15% of 1000 = $150 lost. Plus $70 or $100 whatever it is you *actually* pay them pr lb. I doubt you pay them $150. But maybe you should. $70 + $150 lost = $220 at best. Possibly 20% = $200 lost + $100 paid = a cost of $300 pr lb.

What comes around goes around. Not to mention that money paid to immigrant workers does not stay very long in the community. Trimmers used to go a long ways in supporting local stores & economy. Not so much anymore.

The fastest conventional trimmer I know, who no longer trims, could do 4 1/2 lbs pr day. She was faster than anyone else in a room by far. Most trimmed 1 1/2 lbs if they were fast AND if the bud was good. She cheated a little, but not too much. Not many can come close to that. If an entire room of people are putting out 5 each every day then it’s not by conventional means. Might as well dry it crispy and throw it in a trim machine for what you get.

If you haven’t spent an entire day sitting down and trimming right alongside your trimmers then I don’t think you can tell me how they trim.

Let’s see. $20,000 a month, that’s $5000 a week, $714 a day working 7 days a week. At $200 a pound they would have to trim approx. 3.5 lbs per day. At $150 a pound you would have to trim 5 1/2 lbs. per day.
Even at the $200 rate, I find it hard to believe someone could trim 3.5 lbs. per day and keep that up 7 days a week. Also, I can’t believe it would be any kind of a decent trim job, unless a high trim machine was being used with the trimmers cleaning up, I could see them zipping through the buds…….

I paid about 20k bi weekly in trim fees for years .I seen one dude from Spain trim 4-5 units a day for months Straight … and when it came time to pay every one bi weekly he would have the biggest stack oUt of them all. And it was a clean trim job ….The “trim mom “ or “trim pimp “

20G a month? Come on. You must of had exceptional wages & huge easily trimmed outdoor plants that had buds the size of like arms, nice even buds that didn’t require breaking down tops into smaller pieces to avoid the angled cut stem & had little leaf to snip out. Cut, snip, snip, done, another arm in the bag. Outdoor back in the day looked like mini trees full of money.
I’d love to come work for you if you’re accepting applications, I have good references & I keep my mouth shut. Even if it’s only $10,000 a month now, I can start immediately.

I grew up in so hum, & made a few thousand per month as a teen in the 90’s. $200 a lb made for 1,200 to 1,500 weekly though $700 weeks happened.
Rare were the days more than 1.5 lbs of indoor could be done, a lot of indoor I saw was often tedious to trim, sometimes I had a 2 or 3 lb day(s) but that was if the buds were bigish & leaves few.

B.S. . Never happaned. Those are the fairy tales people come here looking for and instead leave with a meth addiction . Try $130 a pound trim scenes that are lucky to average them upwards of $20 an hour if they push themselves to the limit.
Mean while the growers constantly try to manipulate you into running packs back east for a chance at real money. Trimming blows now adays. No greedy grower would ever pay anyone that well. People are too envious now adays of any comeuppance.

We’ve been robbed 2 times, once in 2014 and another last year. We didn’t report it because we were afraid of our addressed and location being posted would bring attention, ie, more exposure. Plus, why would the police try to investigate and help the folks they despise the most, they think cannabis growers are the reason why there are so many drug users in this area ? (nothing to do with doctors prescribing opioids…). This is the general sentiment in the law enforcement culture along with not worth investigating the murders, especially of a black person. Both times , our suspicion was that it was clearly someone that knew the nuances of our operation, including where the cameras were and how to get though a secluded location. In one case, our suspects shows up a month later with a brand new Toyota Tundra with a trailer after we know he did not have a dime, and had not been working. We work blood sweat and tears for every penny we made, never got a handout from parents, have small children, and always paid our employees very well. We still pray for your wellbeing and we forgive. the universe has blesses us with good health and prosperity, and we are grateful for every moment. DOnt let these awful moments encompass your person. continue on warrior and may the higher force bless the good and the karma police take care of the rest. This really sucks, it doesn’t seem fair, but I feel worst for the thieves that have to pay all this energy back throughout their human experience. respectfully yours

If the county really wanted to make money and there is supposedly 15000 grows or there was and the smaller grows paided 20g and it went up from there…20g x 15000 would be 300 million. Only a 1000 or so have been permitted then the county shuts its doors. So it seems they don’t want all that money as they make it almost impossible to get permits with the rules zoning deadlines and snails pace of paperwork. 300 million could help/change this poor county (more police in rural area less poverty etc) but seems like the county and supervisors are afraid of losing their kick back money or their personal interest and afraid of sales competition. The weed is worse now and robberies are going to be more common due do low wages and abrupt firings because farm owners needed help then didn’t want to pay. A 20% farm manager to a $12.50 an hour farm manager today.
