Press release from Six Rivers National Forest:

Six Rivers National Forest Supervisor Ted McArthur has announced that effective January 1, 2020, the price per cord of personal use fuelwood on the Six Rivers National Forest will be reduced from $10 per cord to $2 per cord.

According to McArthur, “While we’ve been utilizing timber sale contracts, stewardship agreements, service contracts, and our fire and fuels staff, firewood gathering remains an effective tool in reducing hazardous fuel loading and roadside hazards.” He added, “This is a win-win for everyone—by reducing the cost, we hope to encourage more folks to get out and enjoy and use their public lands, all while helping us reduce the hazardous fuel buildup we have on the forest.”

Instead of getting two cords of wood for the $20-minimum purchase, persons will now get ten cords of personal use fuelwood for $20. The personal-fuelwood limit will remain at 10 cords per year. The new wood tags will be available at all forest offices January 2, 2020, and are good until December 31, 2020.

Get it while you can. Democrats want to put a tax on firewood and stoves.

Firewood gathering permits for personal use are for suckers! I already paid for plenty of firewood via my federal income taxes. More fee’s to gather wood from land that is already paid for by taxes? No thanks.

Because $2 for an entire cord of wood is outrageous isn’t it? We all pay taxes bud, get over it. Everyone knows land management agencies have funding issues as it is, I think you can spare a few bucks to legally cut your wood for the winter.
