Trailer With Expired Registration Pulled Over With ‘Numerous’ Totes of Cannabis; Driver Fled

Information from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

On November 22, 2019, at about 3:10 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies on patrol in the Garberville area observed a truck pulling a 26-foot trailer traveling through Garberville. The vehicle passed the deputies’ patrol car, at which time deputies could smell a strong odor of cannabis.

Sheriff’s deputies found that the trailer had expired registration. Deputies followed the trailer onto Alderpoint Road and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle yielded near Upper Sawmill Road, at which time the driver of the vehicle fled on foot into nearby brush.

Deputies searched the trailer and located numerous plastic totes filled with processed cannabis. The truck and trailer were seized for storage as evidence.

Deputies were unable to locate the driver of the vehicle and he has not been identified at this time. He is described as a Hispanic male, slender build, with short dark hair, last seen wearing a black backpack, a dark colored shirt and blue jeans.

If anyone has information about this case, please contact the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at 707-445-7251 or the Sheriff’s Crime Tip Hotline at 707-268-2539.

I’m not saying they did this, but the officers *can* check with the BCC, which due to the statewide track and trace will tell them if the vehicle is carrying a legal load.

Any legal transport happening has to be registered with the BCC (vehicle, driver, etc.) as in transit *before* the load leaves the licensed facility.

It’s not “microchipped weed” that you might smoke because plastic is in your bud. It’s not a SIM card you insert into your plants’ LOL. It’s literally a band that goes around the stalk of the plant that registers an entire plant’s load. They do this to make sure they can follow the weights from the teen to harvest.

That’s not REALLY how “it” works Mezz.. Is EVERY single tobacco plant “tagged”? No.. it’s not. Tobacco isn’t even “tested” and is imported from all around the world, and is fertilized with radioactive fertilizer, they even add formaldehyde as an additive..
I even know of Native Tribes that bootleg their Rez Grown tobacco! Every single beer or cigarette is not tracked and traced…

JB.. I see what your sayin.. but I don’t necessarily believe 64$ is unalterable. How many times did Gov. Brown sign assembly bills related to, amending And alter 215?

How is it the state can “raise taxes” on cannabis, but not lower them?

64$ also mandated nothing over than an acre would be permited during the first 5 years, you see how quickly that changed….

The BCC has the power to basically alter anything in the initiative from what I understand. Yet they insist on keeping a failing and ineffective system.

I am fairly certain many voters just assumed they were voting for “legalization”.. and not necessarily what it meant for the “farmers”.
But I agree on one thing, it certainly is a giant Mess! And yeah Probably need all the luck in the world to make this law into much of anything good!

Cannabis is legal but the average individual person is only allowed what an ounce on you and the fact that they could smell it yeah that might have been an excuse but it’s an open container ticket and a possible DUI And whether it was stolen or not we don’t know just like the Bulgarians there are A lot of Hispanics that have moved up here to grow weed he was probably an illegal alien The Mexican cartels have figured out that it’s a lot easier to just grow weed here for sale then to try and smuggle it across the border and a lot of them don’t speak or read English and don’t know our traffic laws he was probably played to drive it out of state I am curious if the truck and trailer were stolen it’s easy enough to pay your registration

What came first the smell, noticing the bad registration, or observing the dude bailing out? Don’t matter much since the popo will just make shit up. Some states are getting this right:

A significant ruling regarding marijuana in Pennsylvania: a Lehigh County judge ruled state troopers did not have probable cause to search a man’s vehicle after smelling marijuana during a traffic stop. That man has a medical marijuana license; court documents show he presented the card to troopers during the stop.

Dude also had an illegal gun and the evidence had to be tossed because the popo fucked it all up.

My car has permanent plates but I have to buy a new sticker every year and the color of sticker changes so if your sticker is the wrong color, you get pulled over. Is it only me? WTF are you folks talking about? Do you mean that you buy a trailer, pay only one fee and pay no no additional
DMV fees for ever and ever while I and others finance the DMV and road repairs ? We have a travel trailer and it works the same way as the p-up.

So, schlemiels on wheels failed to pay their annual DMV registration, did not have a current sticker, and gave the police instant probable cause for a stop-and-chat.

Your trailer isn’t the same as your pick up.

“ Utility trailer registrations must be renewed every five years. In California, all utility trailers must be registered with the Permanent Trailer Idenfitication (PTI) program, which is operated by the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).”

Per the Ca DMV

I stand corrected. You still must pay up and get your sticker every five years or whatever if you don’t want to talk to police officers. That was the point. The operators failed to have a legal trailer. Schlemiels on wheels, sustained. Why is that concept so difficult to understand? Keep it legal or talk to cops.

My trailer is a camping trailer, not a utility trailer.

It’s actually quite legal and still commonly used in California and other states where possession of small amounts of marijuana is legal.

Works like so: it’s illegal to have quantity x of a substance. Officer smells the substance but cannot reasonably know how much of said substance you have. His smelling the substance is probable cause for the stop, as it is lawful and reasonable for him to check to ensure that you do not have in excess of quantity x.

To be clear, the article stated the probable cause for the stop was expired registration on the trailer.; however, if they follow you long enough they are going to find some small infraction to give them probable cause. Now, if you aren’t smart enough to make sure your registration is up to date before transporting un-permited cannabis then you deserve what you get. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

“The PTI program is a registration program used for all trailers, except trailer coaches and park trailers. Upon payment of the original fee required to enter the PTI program, the department issues a standard PTI plate and an identification certificate for the trailer. Once issued, the PTI license plate remains with the vehicle permanently. A service fee is charged every 5 years to maintain the record. I have not heard of how much of this 21.6 billion is ACTUALLY going to these judges and officials you speak of, but I’m willing to guess where most of these BILLIONS are really going.
I do think 23 billion would go a long way towards fixing that problem? Yet it appears the same as always. Hmm.
23 Billion would also go a long ways towards our vets, infrastructure, (remember that?) and preparing for a changing climate. Yeah, I’m a dreamer.

Yet I think much of it will be ‘spent’ at the Mar-a-Lago Club.

Walls work, there have been at least 77 walls built by countries since 2001.
More are being built every day.
Here are a few examples.
3265KM wall between India and Bangladesh.
1700KM wall between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
440 mile wall between Israel and the West Bank.
Cyprus, wall between Greece and Turkey.
Wall between Malaysia and Thailand.
Wall between Morocco and Spain.
France, wall at Calais.
550 mile wall between Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
Macedonia has a wall.
Hungary has a wall.
Egypt has a wall at Gaza.
Croatia has a 216 mile wall.
Serbia has a 109 mile wall.
There a dozens of countries that have built more walls, with more to come.

Hooktender, I would ask about walls in other countries,1st, how well do they work?
#2, how are they operated/maned/reinforced?
Then I would like to point out that the US/Mex border walls, new and old, have never worked. NEVER
The most recent “HIGH TECH” Trump wall, was breached in less than 2 minutes, cut through with cordless saws.
Climbed to the top, (WITH NO CLIMBING GEAR WATSOEVER) in 15 seconds. Climbed over by an8 year old girl.
That NEW portion of the wall cost us (NOT PESO) tax payers $10 billion. $10,000,000,000.00

Yeah, like youtube is a source of what’s real. So do you have a solution to illegal border crossings? The solution for about a third of citizens (mostly in California) seems to be having zero protection for workers but constantly refreshing the labor pool with low wage immigrants, calling anyone who objects racist and then whine about the income gap. One third seem to have the idea illegal immigrants are responsible for most of the crime and division in society.

I was never in favor of a wall. Instead I wanted fines and, in case of fraud, jail time for both the illegals and those who employ them. But that might just be successful and both major parties could would object. So in absence of any real national policy, a wall is at least good for entertainment.

Once you have a few bodies at a border crossing, I’ll guarantee not too many others will cross. Not only does it make a point but is very cheap in financial costs. That’s why our “wall” is a joke. It’s a government contracted construction project that REQUIRES the use of US certified steel in its construction. Among its other uses, it’s a way to prop up our steel industry and funnel some tax dollars into a few hands that made the deal happen.

The only thing that makes the US better than other places is our Constitution. It was created out of a mix of compromise, independence and limits- a study on how to get some of what you want without giving your neighbor the right to take it all first. It was the first one of it’s type that endured.

Does that mean it is impervious to misuse? No, obviously it doesn’t make people “better” but it has enough restraints that makes it harder for stupid, greedy or fearful people to use the government to inflict their stupidity, greed or fearful agenda on others. You should be horrified by any action that weakens it in exchange for superficial gains. But how can people think so well of themselves personally and so badly of others,as so many Americans are prone to do at the moment, ever appreciate that they what they have been given. If forced to consider the question, their schooling has left them without the tools to figure it out while convincing them of the authority of their every passing opinion.

You’re certain that all the walls work so well or is that just an assumption? The best walls are no walls such as the border between the U.S. and Canada which is the longest unfortified political boundary on the planet. Not bad, huh? I don’t think that includes the Alaska-Canada boundary. NYT had a recent article on how that peaceful boundary in upstate NY is being slowly screwed by Trump venom as it seeps through North America like an untreated rattlesnake bite. When touring northern Ohio,be sure to visit Put-in-Bay in Lake Erie to see the Commodore Perry International Peace Monument commemorating the two centuries of peace since Perry kicked British ass off the Lake. {“we have met the enemy and he is ours”}. Let’s identify racist remarks. Maniac refers to “illegal Mexican cartels .” Race not mentioned at all. You on the other hand respond with “millions of caucasians using meth and heroin. It’s not millions of blacks asians or Hispanics that are using and dying from these drugs in the US every year.” Clearly denigration based on your race based assumptions. Beside which, you are simply wrong. With the exception of “Asians”, the other races you choose to exempt from your broad stereotypes do buy, use, provide and die from illicit drug use in at least the same proportion as their demographic.

There is more than enough blame to spread it to illegal drug users and providers but the sheer heartless greed of the providers gives them an extra share ugliness and disgust.

So “You wanna be a racist champion for your … peoples or wtf”, stop expressing worse racism than that to which you object.

Why would one do that?Cause, if your down in South America, you’d refer to them as Mexicans, Brazilians, Columbians, Venezuelans, since it’s their nationality, not Hispanic, which is only their ethnicity. It’s just a way to sum it up together. Willie is still right though but so were you, so what’s the problem? Google it sometime & see what I mean!

Or just check out what I copied and pasted just for you.

“Ethnicity is the heritage or nationality of a group, but it is not connected to a
specific race. For the purposes of the NMDP Consent for Participation Form and
general NMDP work, ethnicity is viewed as an environmental influence on a
person, versus a genetic trait. People who identify themselves as Spanish,
Hispanic or Latino may be of any race.
Hispanic or Latino
Hispanic or Latino refers to people whose ancestors or descendants originated in
Central and South America and in the Caribbean, who follow the customs and
cultures of these areas and who may speak Spanish.
The phrase Hispanic or Latino excludes people born in Europe whose language
is Spanish or Portuguese, and non-Spanish speaking people born in Brazil,
Belize, French Guyana, Guyana, Surinam and other non-Spanish speaking
territories.
• Chicano – Includes people born in the United States with Mexican ancestry.
• Latino – This term can be used by individuals who live throughout the United
States. Many Latinos have come from Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Cuba
and/or South America.
• Mexican – Includes all citizens of Mexico regardless of race.
• Puerto Rican – Includes all persons of Puerto Rican descent.”

It was obvious what you meant. It was obvious because way too many people do exactly the same thing almost every chance they get. They react to what is irrelevant in self destructive ways. First you assumed what was not in evidence – failure number one is believing everything you think. The phrase “assume makes an ass out of u and me” was surely first used by some boot camp drill sergeant somewhere. You may think it but you don’t act on your thoughts but on evidence. Otherwise everything gets diverted with cries of racist until it loses any meaning. Which is just about where this country is now. Mexican cartels exist to the horror of both the US and Mexico. If those words can never be said or a border wall is always going to be treated as a racist remark, nothing will get done about the death and destruct it brings. It’s simply not all about you.

Then the really important failure number two comes along- that shooting your mouth off at the wrong target is worse than wasteful. It is fatal. Do you really believe that anyone who is a racist is going to change his beliefs because you attack the race you assume he is? He’s going to shut up because you say so? Or is it more likely that he won’t care what you think but it may very well convince someone else that he’s right? That Caucasians are under attack because, despite what you think you said, that is exactly what you did say- “your other caucasians to quit being a race of junkie druggies.” Nothing like making the point of a racist to keep them going.

Lastly don’t try waving military service in a demand for respect when you distinctly screwed up in a very civilian forum. It’s not the kind of commitment the Marines meant. Others have had military service too. In fact decades more.

Your going to“Call us out”?
Lol.
Not everybody believes that’s a thing, “calling people out”.
It only applies to wanna be black genXers
Im a death metal genXer. You cannot Shame us in the same way you shame yourself.
And your fear of racism is hilarious to me.
Are people actually scared of racism?like it’s a major social problem?
Violence is a major social problem.
Racism is like not liking somebody, not liking something, how are you gonna change that? The draft?
Sounds like a re-education internment camp right?
It’d be worth it of course, lol, if we could train people to not hate other types of people, good luck.
People self sort and they always have.
Does the phrase “like minded” mean anything to you? Even liberals understand how self sorting works.
And I thought climate change was the new bugaboo for the compassionate crowd.
Or maybe trans bathrooms..?
racism is so outdated, get out of the 90’s!

I don’t think a wall will do any good now that planes have been invented. A very small portion of people actually walk across the border. But I think it’s funny to waste billions of dollars on useless things, so there’s that. Those imaginary lines don’t avtually mean anything.

Hmm… Try telling that to Canadians. Or Mexicans. Or the Republic of China. Or just about anywhere on the face of the earth. Just don’t expect the country you came from to support you when you end up in jail.

Who are the dum dums in the state that are raising taxes on weed, and why are we voting them in again? This whole mess would be solved with a 20% tax rate, as opposed to 50%. Long live the black market.

Build the wall at the Mendocino line. Block off that whole hive of scum and villainy to the south. Time to break up PG E and california.

So HCSO’s finest can’t catch anyone in a foot race, or do they just let the folks get away so they can pocket what they find behind curtain number 1? CASH AND PRIZES

Yeah, don’t forget these same cops that pull over every cargo trailer they can in garberville let the convoy of half a dozen robbers armed with ak47 to roll rig on through with Penske trucks and trailers. So if you want to openly haul mass amounts of weed through garberville, give the cops a hour notice and tell them you’re armed to the teeth then you can leisurely drive right on through

Yep. Have they pulled you over too? Was their excuse your tire touched the white line? Don’t drive in town after sunset! I’ve been pulled over twice now! With the same excuse, 2 different officers. They are profiling me, hoping I have pounds on me. I drive a Ford f150 super crew cab, lift kit, black 20inch rims Ruby red. So the profile me as a pot grower. I’ve had this truck for 3 years now! And never got pulled over. Now I get pulled over ever time I go to garberville, every time I go to the credit union to deposit my pay check! With that same, your tire touched the white line. Friday the chip officer was trying to suggest I was drinking. It was strange he came up to my window asked me for all my information Told me he pulled me over because my tire touch the white line then asked me why I swerved went back to his vehicle to run all my information and came back with rubber exam gloves on immediately And started asking me how much I’d been drinking tonight which was none you’d be able to smell the alcohol if I were drinking he just wanted to get me out of my truck and be able to search my truck so he started giving me the eye exam in the dark and I told him to knock it off stop it let’s just give me a Breathalyzer because I’m tired of them harassing me that this is the 2nd time I’ve been pulled over for no reason claiming I touch the white line and last time they took my truck from me claimed I didn’t have a driver’s license and slapped me with a ticket for driving without a license so I called and complained to the sergeant they gave me my truck back and the district attorney drop the charges against me after I went to court put me through a whole bunch of krapp and so I told him all this told him I’m tired of it and instead of pulling me out of my truck and humiliating me in front of everybody driving by on the bluffs just give me a Breathalyzer right now so we walked back to his vehicle and he gave me a Breathalyzer I blew a .000. Its harrassment they are looking for pounds of pot, plain and simple! Black market pot is competition for the legal market! And the state government isn’t getting their price of the pie. Their are more pot bust now that it’s legal and their is $ going to the state and corporations than ever!

Been to Mexico many times. Beautiful culture, beautiful people, USA drug appetite and foreign policy on illicit drugs has turned more than a handful of Mexico’s once peaceful regions into war zones. And it’s moved north to a neighborhood near you

Definitely a beautiful culture, and beautiful people. Not to say Mexico doesn’t have its demons with Addiction. I was reading an article about underground rehab centers and some of its corruption the other day.. Actually tho, people might have MORE access to rehabs than in America with all their regulations.. not to say some of the Rehabs are not corrupt. Agree, that many once peaceful regions are now poverty stricken war zones. And Actually some of the worst places are not as bad as people make them.. some are… The Avacado Farmers, they are fighting back, against the Cartels..Good for them!
Coming soon? No, just take a good look at Eureka.. wars raging and has been forever. Nothing new there..

Never mind trying to chase and apprehend the suspect , they might want to build a helipad in Redway so it’s not so easy to get away if all they have to do is run away. They might have a hard time stopping people from coming here and doing whatever they want and then slithering away to another part of the country.

Do Wrong Right

If you’re gonna do wrong buddy do wrong right
If you’re gonna do wrong buddy do wrong right
You wanna make a little mess, you wanna make a little crime
If you’re gonna do wrong better do wrong right

Ride around the lamb to all the little towns
While my blood gets boiling when that racket buckles loud
Fire up the motors, we got all of us in
Spread the red all over town and do it all again

Well most things that I know, I didn’t learn in class
The road don’t go forever, so ride it while it lasts
If you’re gonna raise a ruckus, one word of advice
If you’re gonna do wrong buddy do wrong right…
