CHP Needs Information About a Hit-and-Run of a Juvenile in Weaverville

Press release from the California Highway Patrol:

On Monday November 18th at approximately 3:30 PM, a juvenile male was riding his bicycle eastbound on Washington Street [Weaverville] along a line of parked cars facing north. The driver of a tan mini van failed to see the juvenile passing behind their vehicle and began to back out of a parking stall. The mini van collided with the bicyclist, knocking him to the ground. The mini van then continued westbound on Washington Street. The juvenile was treated for injuries at the scene. The identity of the mini van driver remains unknown at this time. The juvenile described the mini van as being tan and dirty with tinted windows. Anyone with information about this collision is urged to contact the Trinity River CHP office at (530) 623-3832.

Not good. Anyone might have have an accident, but it takes someone different to just flee. Poor kid, hope he’s okay. The release said headed west, yet the report has the E box checked.

The vehicle was heading east, in reverse, when the accident occurred. After contact, the vehicle went west.
