Kim Cabrera: Black Bears Feeding on Tasty Grass
Local tracker Kim Cabrera captured this video of our local wildlife. Cabrera writes:
Several black bears, including one mother and cub, have been feeding on fresh grass in this field. It is late fall and the bears are in a stage called hyperphagia, which means they are eating as much as they can. They do this to gain weight for the coming winter months when they will be in dens. There are acorns around, but not as many as a month ago, so the bears are eating the grass too. Anything to pack on the pounds. The little cub is pretty entertaining. He seems to be feeling lazy and decides to lie down and just eat grass while mother bear wanders around him feeding. There also seem to be at least two other larger bears that I suspect are the males, who visit this field. Doesn’t that grass look tasty?

🕯🌳Good morning Oliver good morning read.👍🏽🇺🇸
~thank you Oliver and Kim. Very nice footage . . . feels like shelter from the storm.
I love that song…
Good morning, everyone!
Bears must have an amazing digestive system. I get a kick out of how the bear pushes the grass together in a crump with her paw to get more grass per bite.
Bears do have an amazing digestive system, you should see the crap they eat out of my garbage can on a weekly basis! Monday is trash pick up, Sunday night is bear tearing through my trash, waking up my dogs, me naked yelling at a bear with a flashlight, pissing off the wife and all n all pretty comical.
I subscribed to Kim’s channel some time ago. I find it very educational and entertaining.
Really enjoy these videos. We live in the most beautiful place on Earth. We need to protect it and ALL the critters who live here.

I had no idea that bears could eat grass! Thank you for this!
