Power Is On…But There Is Still Some Fallout, Says Humboldt County
PG&E is reporting that power to all customers in Humboldt County has been restored from the recent Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS). This planned outage lasted more than 36 hours, beginning at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, with restoration starting around 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 28.
PG&E repairs
Please be courteous to PG&E crews as they inspect and repair power lines damaged by the recent wind event. Many of these workers are our friends and neighbors, and they are working hard to help our community recover from the power shutoff. These crews and their families have been impacted as well, and it is never acceptable to use intimidation or violence with anyone in our community.
EOC deactivation
Representatives from local law enforcement agencies, first responder agencies, hospitals, county government, tribes and other community partners have been coordinating the county’s response in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to minimize impacts to the county. Now that power has been restored, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services is deactivating the EOC today. City- and agency-operated Community Resource Centers will also close today.
Weather forecast
The National Weather Service has not forecast any weather patterns that would result in another PSPS event in the near future. However, the decision to shut down power, the duration of any outage, and restoration timelines are solely managed by PG&E. Shop local to help Humboldt County recover
The entire community has been negatively impacted by PG&E’s power shutoff, including local businesses. You can help with economic recovery after adverse community events by shopping local. In addition to supporting businesses and our community, shopping local will help fund programs that help residents prepare and recover from disasters. You can learn more about ways to help economies recover, and businesses can learn more about how to prepare for a disaster by visiting restoreyoureconomy.org.
Take time now to prepare
Residents are also urged to restock emergency supplies and make arrangements for medical needs that may be impacted by a planned PSPS or another disaster or emergency. Given Humboldt County’s rural location, emergency supplies including food and water should last up to two weeks.

Before this event, I has been really unimpressed with the Humboldt Alerts, especially when there was a fire closing the road less than a mile from me and I heard nothing about it.
I think maybe I misunderstood the nature of the Alert, which is apparently not for isolated incidents, but strictly for big ones. Now that the EOC is being disbanded, I guess notice will not be generated in smaller incidences.
Well thanks for the Alerts which I did find very helpful during the blackout. I wish there was some way it could be used more locally though.
That 4th and G pix. scares me. Was it all glowing red? Like the road to hell?
lol!
Notice they are telling you to be prepared for 2 weeks. It is pretty much the new standard nation wide as emergency managers realize the scope of some of the things we face. Because my road access has been cut off by fire evacuation zones twice with no notice I have learned the hard way to be ready to go 2 months at all times.
Chuck. Thanks. Agreed.
But how do you prepare for 2 months or even 2 weeks regarding water?
Anybody?
Thanks.
The 2.5 gallon drinking water containers readily available at stores fit neatly under a bed or behind a sofa, they are sealed and good technically forever (even though they have an expiration date). You will need 1 gallon per person per day just for drinking…if you buy dehydrated emergency food you will need more. They do sell tanks but I recommend against them as you have to maintain the water for potability

Also, if you have a water heater, whatever it’s size is a reservoir.
You should rotate the jugs of water, every other month and every month would be better.
No. Well you can if you want to throw plastic into the environment like an ass but FEMA says it will be fine forever. Here are some links for you

I guess they think Dinsmore is in Trinity County because we still are without power!
Dinsmore’s power outage is from something other than the Public Safety Power Shutoff, PG&E says.
I’ll be giving you a two week Break ms Kemp. Thanks for your service. You must be overwhelmed. See u in mid November! Toddles

I appreciate your heartwarming concern.
Power finally back on as of 6:30pm
~good to hear.
The PGE GOD will be giving $100 bill credit to customers affected by Oct 9 shut down. $250 to businesses. Details PGE web site. All hail the PGE GOD…….
That $100 credit only applies to the October 9 shut off, not this most recent one.
So many lately I can’t remember if we (humboldt) were shut off October 9.
Yes, the power went off October 9 https://kymkemp.com/2019/10/09/power-off-yet/
The people threatening PG&E workers do not deserve electricity. Its utterly disgusting that they threaten those who are only trying to help! I hope they are exposed and charged.
power finally back in clearlake an hour age , around 3 pm or so
got tv back just after 4 pm
first tv in 4 days
anything works , even just noise
Power has been back on in my town on the North Shore of Clear Lake for about an hour. I was alerted to this when the burglar alarm suddenly went off. (I set it when I left town on Saturday, and when I came back on Sunday there was no power so I couldn’t turn it off.) A friend in the Buckingham area near Soda Bay just texted that power is on there. Thanks again for RHBB’s excellent coverage of fires and outages.
Laytonville is getting power back now, too. Huzzah!
