[UPDATE 4:11 p.m.: I-80 Reopens, 101 Still Closed] 101 Closed at Windsor
Two major California freeways are closed this morning as firefighter fight two separate incidents in relatively populated areas.
The Kincaide Fire (now roughly 30,000 acres) has closed Hwy 101 at Windsor. CHP Santa Rosa tweeted, “US-101 is closed in the Windsor/Healdsburg area due to poor visibility and fire to the east of Arata Ln. The closure will begin in the northbound direction at Airport Blvd and on the southbound side at Dry Creek. Please avoid the area.” Caltrans media line confirmed the closure.
At this point there is no estimated time of reopening.

The Sky Fire (connected with the Glen Cove Fire) which started this morning before 9:30 has forced the closure of I-80. Cal Fire reported that this is a 200 acre fire as of 12:09 p.m.
We were not able to get hold of a public information officer to determine the exact closure. But the Waze traffic information on Caltrans QuickMaps indicates that the closure begins north of Benicia and goes to Hwy south of Rodeo.
Looks as if the fire is becoming even more established on the other side of the Carquinez Bridge near Crockett, CA. #CummingsFire #SkyFire #GlenCoveFire #cawx #cafire pic.twitter.com/ARrh2txy1M

Thanks,Kym
The I-80 closure is between Hi 4 and I-780, including the bridge.
101 is open in both directions. I just came from San Fran. It’s a mess both the guest is open. Bring breathing devices, the smoke is thick on 101. Traffic is bumper to bumper from Cloverdale to Golden Gate Bridge.
Caltrans is showing it closed, Gazoo.
I’ve attached a screenshot of the Caltrans QuickMap
Things are happening quick down there.
Assume its closed.
They have pushed evacuations all the way down to Sebastopol areas now, as of 4am today.
They closed it, reopened it, and then closed it again.
Fire near Arrata lane, and they’re trying to keep it from crossing the freeway.
Whew we got lucky, we followed about ten government fire trucks and 20 state fire engines from south Santa Rosa to dry creek road, Healdsburg, the wind was so strong it was pushing us all around like nothing. Glad to be home power or no power.
Stay safe everyone

Hey, was that an insult?
Gazoo:
Well, if the shoe fits…

What’s a shoe?
Thx. Kym as these kinds of comments are what put others in danger! Praying for all!
Being informed can help keep the stress levels down and aid in making appropriate decisions. Thanks for your hard work and indispensable information Kym!
Sherri, Yes!! YAY KYM!!!
Thank you Kym !!💞
Earlier there was a map showing west of Windsor to the ocean at Jenner detailing evacuations and showing the remote rural road access.
Where is that map now, disappeared with the update?
If it crosses the 101 that area and its residents are in so much danger, please get out now!
OMG Kym, you are without a doubt the very best!!! This is the first we have heard of this fire, of course living out of state doesn’t help. It sounds like it is huge. Thanks for your posts and updates. We need a “Kym” in every community. Hope this fire gets put out soon and our firefighters and everyone involved are safe. Miss you, but your posts are the first thing I see! Hugs
I have a friend heading to LA tonight. Any thoughts on an alternate route? Or does anyone know where I might be able to find info?
Thanks
299 to interstate 5 to LA
I5 Was re-opened in Sacramento this afternoon. (grass fire)
Hwy 80 Has re-opened. (Grass/Brush fire)
Hwy 20 is Closed by the Potter Valley Turnoff. (Fire)
101 is Closed at Healdsburg smoke. (Fire)
Hwy 1 is restricted on the coast due to fire evacuations. (Fire).
If you are north of the 299 you might consider going over to Redding and then down but early morning today it was hellacious windy gust and the big rigs were having a hard time a lot of them or pulled over whatever you decide on doing be careful out there
