A fast moving wildfire is running right at the town of Geyserville this morning. First reports from about 9 p.m. last night indicate a vegetation fire started near John Kincade Road in the hills to the east of the town about 9:30 last night and, whipped by winds that blew over 70 miles per hour at times, grew to 10,000 acres by seven this morning. It is 0% contained.

Many residents may be awaking without power as a Public Safety Power Shutoff is shown to be in effect on PG&E’s map of the area and may not be aware of the fire.

As of 6:54 a.m. an alert here at this site, socoemergency.org, states, “The town of Geyserville, and the area east of the town, is under evacuation order. The Kincade Fire has crossed Highway 128 near Moody Lane and is heading west. If you’re in Geyserville, leave now.”

The high winds are throwing sparks ahead of the fire causing spot fires to leap up in advance of the main body of the fire. According to the National Weather Service, the peak gust of 76 mph came at midnight. As of 7 a.m. the wind is  sustained at 39 mph with gusts of 54 mph from the NNE. Humidity is dangerously with an RH of 14%.

Cal Fire says this morning that at least two structures have been damaged but warns, “Structure damage assessments will begin today.”

Caltrans QuickMap shows that Hwy 128 east of Geyserville is closed.

UPDATE 11 a.m.: An excellent interactive map can be seen by clicking here.

But below is a screenshot of the map. (Note: some of the key is chopped off but the mauve roughly rectangular pieces littering the area show the PG&E outage area.)

Sonoma County Map of Kincade Fire

Please note there are at least two other fires in the area from the north bay to Mendocino County area–one in west Marin County and one east of Santa Rosa. But the Kincade is by far the largest.

UPDATE 12:20 p.m.: KTVU is reporting, “@CHP_GoldenGate says commuters should be prepared for possibility of shutting down #Hwy101 because of #KincadeFire , if fire continues to grow/spread @KTVU.” We will update as more information comes in. PLEASE be aware that this does not mean 101 IS closing. It does however mean that if you are planning on traveling, pay attention to the news. We will be updating this as more information comes in.

UPDATE 7:15 p.m.: Cal Fire just announced that the Kincade Fire is now 16,000 acres and only 5% contained. 49 structures are reported to have been destroyed. No fatalities or injuries reported though.

According to the Northern California Geographic Coordination Center, “Evacuations orders and warnings remain in place. There is a threat to power-lines, communication infrastructure, and the Geyser Peak Communication Tower. Hwy 128 has been closed in the area. Cal Fire IMT #6 will assume command tomorrow morning at 0700.”

So the PSPS did not help in this case

Amazingly, fires are sometimes caused by things other than pg&e.

Though it will be quite ironic if it turns out this was started by someone’s backup generator or a candle…

One impact of PG&E cutting power to prevent wildfires from winds that blow down power lines is that most rural water systems depend on electricity for water pumps so water availability and pressure is low; water is not available in large part to many fires.

~i remember this being said about Paradise. Paradise burned-up in four hours at temps so hot, houses and contents vaporized – hence -“Wildfire”. No longer about Smokey the Bear and “Forest Fires”, cause the forest doesn’t burn. Anyway, by the time the fire engines made it into Paradise, that’s when PG&E cut the power.

It was probably caused by a candle falling from a countertop which caused the structure fire which led into the vegetation all because of the PG&E power shut offs.

It’s a known fact that this fire was started from a structure fire while the power was off.

They believe at this point that the fire started at the Geysers, fumerole 9 & 10. What is ironic if this is true, the PSPS may have worked, and another form of energy creation and transfer started it. But they wont know how or where for sure till later today.

The fire is now down to the valley floor. The winds are expected to continue this AM and the ag land between the fire and 101 should slow it down and block spread to 101. Vineyards usually do a good job as a firebreak. The fear is for the fire to spot on the west side of 101. If that happens all bets are off.

The other concern is that, even if they successfully coral this thing in the next few days, this weekend they are expecting another wind event with offshore winds and possibly stronger winds that last longer which could easily restart this fire. Its going to be a race against time to bring this beast solidly to the ground before that happens.

Yes, i bet T.H.E.Y. are. Programmed weather warfare. Gotta be hard to forecast.

Corporate terrorism from PG&E.

PG&E holds weather manipulation patents as well as a patent for a space-based laser weapon. All of these patents are publicly posted online.

https://patents.google.com/patent/US20110174892A1/en

https://patents.google.com/patent/US9346563B1/en

https://www.defenseone.com/technology/2019/03/pentagon-wants-test-space-based-weapon-2023/155581/

Follow the money.

If you’ve ever read or seen the anime Akira then you’ll know that this weapon is incredibly similar to SOL. Also what are the chances PG&E is causing rolling blackouts to divert grid energy to utilize for some laser weapon they are testing with the pentagon?

VERY interesting. I’ll check the anime Akira you speak of.

//”Also what are the chances PG&E is causing rolling blackouts to divert grid energy to utilize for some laser weapon they are testing with the pentagon?”//

I had heard this is why PG&E filed bankruptcy – well, not a weapon, but that the planned all-electric-world source, is to be beamed from a PG&E off-planet laser source.

Power went out in Dinsmore area around 5:30 this morning not related to PSPS. No update yet on when it will be restored.

Kym, the timing is off in the 1st paragraph.

If you dont have one get a hand crank radio NOW! As we’ve all learned it’s on us to be prepared.
Assume the electricity will be off and you wont be able to drive anywhere. Make sure you have a watch as we’re all used to checking cel phones. Get a solar charger for phones.
Prepare for the worst.

Kym many thanks as always and please let us know how we can help our neighbors to the south.

Thanks Kym! Your reporting is HUGE! With the PSPO we chose to send the wife and kids down the 101 instead of the 5 and I woke up to this after they were already south of Fortuna. They are cutting out rest stops unless a kid barfs. She just relayed the smoke column ahead of her is massive.

This MIGHT affect hwy 101…Geyserville has been evacuated.

A good source of info is the Bay Area TV channels…they, along with CDF, have good info…Just about ALL the TVstations will be coveringt his fast moving fire…LOCAL radio is also helpful in that area but I don’t know IF KRCB is still on he air.

BIG danger now is wind driven embers that start “spot fires” ahead of the main fire…the embers driven by high wind gusts is what caused our other recent major wildfires to explode in size.

Dutch is talking about it off and on during his live stream right now. He was worried about the geysers area when the tremblers stopped trembling many days ago. They finally started up again and … here we are, just as expected.
