Cal Fire Reminds Everyone to Be Vigilant as Fire Season Is Not Over

cal firePress release from Cal Fire Humboldt Del Norte Unit:

During the past week, Humboldt County has experienced Red Flag Warnings for critical fire danger related to gusty north winds and low relative humidity’s. The CAL FIRE Humboldt- Del Norte Unit would like to thank residents for their assistance in preventing fires during this crucial time. Due to the community’s fire prevention efforts, CAL FIRE Humboldt- Del Norte resources only responded to one small vegetation fire in the county. Although we had only one vegetation fire, multiple instances of illegal debris burning were addressed during this period.

The CAL FIRE Humboldt- Del Norte Unit anticipates allowable burn days soon. People burning dry vegetation are responsible for meeting the terms and conditions of their burn permit, including proper clearance around piles and having sufficient water to extinguish the fire. Do not burn during windy and gusty weather. Residents are reminded to call 1.866.287.6329 prior to burning to verify burn day status. Permit holders can be held criminally and civilly liable for escaped fires.

CAL FIRE Humboldt Del Norte Unit currently has 5 engines and 6 hand crews positioned across the state to assist with any incident that may occur. Although our resources are assisting in other areas, CAL FIRE and our Local Government cooperators are available and prepared to respond to any emergency that occurs in our area.

The CAL FIRE Humboldt-Del Norte Unit reminds residents to remain vigilant as fire season is not over and dry weather remains part of long term forecast. For additional fire safety tips see www.readyforwildfire.org.

“They” don’t want you to communicate. Communication is number 6 on survival list, along with medical. Besides , “they” will take care of you for you. Your rights are being abolished. Wake up.
