Google maps is wrong on their placement of shamrock ranch. I just looked at the map and they’ve got shamrock ranch pinned north of Black Oak Ranch, which is inaccurate. Shamrock Ranch is south of Laytonville. This accident is actually about 6 miles north of Laytonville, in the rattlesnake summit area, north of the Black Oak Ranch.

Yet another vehicle on it’s side…The month isn’t over yet, so let’s keep the tally climbing!

Kym, I hate to do this since you haven’t deleted any of my posts in months, but that should read 9:25 a.m.

Shamrock Ranch is south of Laytonville. Black Oak Ranch (Hog Farm) is north of Laytonville.

Yep google maps is often off, sometimes by many miles.
Makes you feel great that the county uses it for enforcement. ..not.
Carry a paper map with you folks, relying on Google in any way is a fools game.

Some paper maps aren’t much better really. Triple A’s maps can be awful- no smaller roads… If you’re outside your comfort zone and off the beaten path it’s better to have 2 or 3 sources.

Glad the driver is fine. Looks like he hit the guardrail with the truck for some reason. I think that saved him. Sure would not want to go that edge in a semi.

This can’t be why I just saw a Multi Fire Engine Convoy go past my place here on Hwy 36 a few minutes ago!!! They were ALL going Code 3 as they went by here!!! Forest Service as well as Cal Fire, in the mix!!! Must be something pretty BIG!!!

Now that I think on it, for while, I’m betting, it has something to do with, the Fallen Firefighter’s Memorial!!!

Dan F …this is NOWHERE near CA Hwy 36…READ the description..!

This is on the north side of Rattlesnake Summit, in the general area north of the Hog Farm where the flatlands transition near Brushy Creek to the uphill grade going northbound…

Usually it’s lumber trucks that have dumped their load going downhill, southbound, over Rattlesnake Summit, which is why there are restricted speed limits for southbound trucks going downhill…

Last time I drove to Sacramento and was driving on Highway 5 next some newer models semi’s I was struck by how much bigger they have gotten. I started wondering if that is why we are seeing more accidents like this. Just like our cars, the transport trucks haven gotten larger possibly being one of the underlying problems causing this to happen more often?

I really don’t think the size increase (if there is any) causes problems. The only ones that are too long are not allowed past Richardson’s Grove, thanks the stupid EPIC Group. Look at the road trains in the land down under. Very, very few accidents considering the roads and animals wondering by. Fantastic trucker’s.

Did the truck slip on a banana peel or what? They always seem to crash in this area maybe they should go the speed limit so they won’t crash all the time.
