Mile marker 22-25 Blood alley. Too tight of corners for the speed and weather people are driving. Even dry conditions Blood Alley takes people. Be careful

I think the corridor they were looking at for train service was along 36.

That makes no sense. Can you fill in the details? Hyampom is Northwest of Wildwood and 299 North of Hyampom…. meanwhile there’s 100 miles of flat land across South Fork Mountain.

I drive it every single day, the riad is fine. People need to slow the hell down and be responsible. Highways have a tendency to weed out the stupid.

Too many stoners and misfit tweakers on the road these days. Collateral damage of pot industry and the misfits it attracts.

I agree to an extent but there are also alcoholics, young drivers, and idiots. Facebook has posted many articles in the last week alone I’m driving safe in new rings I’ve shared many of them. People just don’t pay attention it’s the same thing on the corridor between Arcata and Eureka.

A terrible accident. We passed it while driving home this afternoon in heavy rain. So many will be impacted through these lives lost. Sending Angels of healing to all involved.

Highway Patrol says 90% of the accidents on that stretch have nothing to do with drugs or alcohol. Simply people driving to fast.

I believe you are correct been commuting that stretch daily for over 20 years. While Its true that we have lots of drunks, druggies, and distracted drivers but we also have way too many speed demons. As a cautious and careful driver it’s hard to fathom how many times I am passed on a Double Yellow Blind Curve. It’s astonishing how many accidents and fatalities happen on that stretch. Slow Down Folks – Most of us want to get home at the end of the day.

First rains of the season bring the oils to the surface. And most people don’t have really good tires… and I mean really good tires. 299 is unforgiving. Moving at 55 or 60 mph and you have to make a quick maneuver your tires are literally where the rubber meets the road. If they can’t hold the pavement then you’re done.

I wonder why people who have no idea how anything works are expected to keep their vehicles in good working order. Most people never check the tread on their tires and are completely unaware of the dangers of bald tires and rain on the road. It puts everyone else on the road in danger.
I know we all hate the govt but maybe annual vehicle inspections like they do in a lot of states is a good idea. Makes jobs for small service shops and keeps these deathtrap tweaker mobiles off the road.

And there it is! The argument for more government regulation, inspection and control! And the reasoning is not entirely wrong- people ARE idiots. And we seem to be moving backwards every day. Idiots driving like morons and then we all have to suffer yet more government oversight AND pay for it. Idiocracy is here!

Rover and first guy John are spot on. “Blood Alley” is appropriate, we have always called it the “gauntlet” for obvious reasons. Healthy first rain it’s slicker than the kooks hauling ass can possibly imagine

They were our friends, brothers, nephews, sons, grandsons, partners that died in that accident. They weren’t drunks or tweakers. They were two friends from overseas (one living in North America), doing a roadtrip through California.
