Evacuations Still in Place for Mountain Fire Near Redding

As the sun rises on a smokey landscape this morning, thousands of residents who fled their homes in the Dry Creek Road area northeast of Redding can be hopeful they might soon return (though all evacuation orders are still in place.) The Mountain Fire which reached 600 acres is now 40% contained.

Cal Fire states, “Firefighters made good progress overnight preventing additional growth to the fire and increasing containment line. The north side of the fire presents the biggest challenge due to the possibility of increased south winds and steep, rugged terrain. Damage assessment is ongoing.”

However, they do know that seven structures were destroyed and one damaged during yesterday’s frightening growth which started about 11 a.m. But a quick response, and unrelenting push back has minimized the destruction.

Today, there are 580 firefighting personnel on the scene. Three helicopters, 79 engines, 12 dozers, and 21 water tenders are prepared to continue the push against the flames.

Two people received minor injuries in the incident though details aren’t yet available.

Although temperatures are expected to rise into the 90’s, humidity is relatively high for the region and winds are light which should make the firefighters’ job easier.

As Cal Fire updates, information can be found here.

Yes, and what a fine result.

Yesterday, I spoke with a family friend off the record, He’s a CalFire Captain of this district. You’re correct. They threw everything but the kitchen sink at this fire. All state land so the Feds weren’t consulted. Luckily there’s fewer fires this season. Plus locals and state agencies have increased their staff. The short loop from air station to drop zone was only 28 miles.

The Carr and Camp fires last year caused top level to attack first and sort things out later.

Well, “Chemtrails” has become another knee-jerk conspiracy theory trigger noun. But whatever you want to call them, the obvious vapor trails painting our skies on a regular basis are actually up there for all to see. The official explanation is water condensation, yet the official story for so much has proven to be intentionally misleading bullshit. Wiggington is burdened with an overzealous hair-on-fire rhetorical style, but there is much disturbing information available on the subject. Ignoring it won’t make it go away.

At this time there’s no smoke … fire is under control … no problem.
It’s 103 degrees. Light breeze from south. The spotter plane is continually circling overhead. I motored over to a couple different staging areas, it’s a happy satisfied bunch of tough people ready to jump on anything. Well done.

My Grandson was let go at 24 hours on duty at 10:30 this morning. He’s back to his day job, Cummins diesel tech.

Hey, i just figured something out about YouTube, that has previously prevented me from posting a link.

No, not using group-think Goo-ghoul. I’ve always been pleased w/StartPage. Anyway, in searching for a downloaded video, it didn’t come up in YouTube’s search. However, when I searched w/StartPage – it took me right to it.
