Family Asks Community to Look for Missing Man

As hunters and other outdoorsy types spend the last month of summer and the fall season exploring the natural landscape around us, this sister has a plea:

Hans Lippuner

Hans Lippuner

Please help us locate our brilliant and kind-hearted brother and friend, Hans Lippuner, who disappeared without a trace from McKinleyville last October 16, 2018.

He was a gifted craftsman, tree trimmer and climber, and a caring family member – a single man with a huge heart who was always willing to help others.

He was struggling with pain from a bad right hip (bone on bone), some substance use issues of which he felt ashamed and kept hidden from everyone, was depressed, and had lost a lot of weight and interest in living. He left without the items he would have normally taken when going climbing or to work in Santa Cruz, almost as if his departure was not planned. He lived with a married couple in McKinleyville.

His large, white, Ford cargo van is very distinctive with a pop up top, jacked up four wheel drive, and has not been seen or found since then either. CA Plate 4ANN813.

He leaves behind a deeply concerned family, an aging father, and a huge circle of committed and caring friends from across Humboldt County and the Boulder Creek/Santa Cruz area. We miss him terribly.  We beg everyone that may be in the woods hunting, fishing, biking, etc, as well as the general public, to please let us know if you see his van or him. The last cell phone ping was at Blue Lake before he dropped completely out of sight.

Blessings,
Susi Lippuner

If this is the person I think it is, I met him in august last year and was possibly going to buy some tools from him, including a toolbox he had to travel south to pick up. Showed me a bunch of photos of his aerospace machining projects. Seemed like nothing wrong then, and he wouldn’t sell some of the things I wanted since he was planning on keeping on using them. A lot can change in two months, I guess…

Thank you. That does sound like him. He had tools he wanted to sell and others he really wanted to keep, and he had worked on special projects like that. We don’t know what changed.

Hey Bushytails, Is there any possibility that you could reach out to Chris Cook, the investigator we have hired to help us in our search, and in understanding what happened to Hans? We are trying to create a timeline of what he was doing and where he was prior to his disappearance. Her number is 707.616.4507. we would be very appreciative of this. thank you
