There were war reenactments happening at the Highland Games (artillery shells and whatnot) at Perigot Park. Maybe it was that?

There weren’t any witnesses because Blue Lake is a ghost town.
I went there two weeks ago when I was going for a walk on the levee around two o’clock in the afternoon and I saw one car and five pedestrians.

While 467 people were killed with “blunt objects,” like hammers and clubs in 2017, 403 were killed with rifles, the recent FBI crime statistics show.

More than 40,000 people killed by guns, short and long barrel. A bunch of them used the guns to off themselves.

Two-thirds are suicides. Of the known type of firearm used in homicides (non-suicide) 95% are handguns.

One interesting thing is that murder and suicide generally have an inverse relationship. Countries with low murder rates tend to have higher suicide rates. There may be outliers but generally that is true that countries with low murder rates are higher on the list for suicides. A few are horribly high in both- Greenland seems highly dangerous. I can remember seeing these weird nets hanging off the side of some apartment building in Japan- the explanation turned out that they were there to protect people enter or leaving building from getting hit by people jumping off above to commit suicide. Anyway I wonder how many US mass murders are really suicides with a desire to take others with them.
