The following is a press release from College of the Redwoods:

With the start of the fall semester, College of the Redwoods welcomes a new faculty member to the Automotive Technology department. Bryan Kramer comes to Humboldt County from Huntington Beach, CA where he was a tenured Auto Tech professor at Golden West College for over 16 years.

In addition to his classroom experience, Mr. Kramer brings curriculum design and technical writing expertise to the college. As a freelance curriculum designer and technical trainer, he has developed training content for most major automotive manufacturers and many transit agencies including LA Metro, Honda/ Acura, Audi, Karma and Land Rover. For Audi, he developed the first High Voltage training course for their technicians, as well as the full technician training course for Audi’s first electric vehicle, the e-tron, when it was released in 2016.

While at Golden West, Mr. Kramer created important partnerships with outside organizations. He organized and completed the program’s initial certification for the National Automotive Education Foundation (NATEF) and created the college’s first automotive partnership with a major manufacturer, Honda Motors of America. In 2019, he created the program’s second partnership with Subaru University and Subaru Motors of America.

Mr. Kramer’s first semester at CR coincides with the introduction of a new, one-year certificate: Auto Maintenance and Light Repair. The auto industry partners who sit on CR’s advisory board helped to shape the certificate, which will provide students with enough training to secure entry-level technician positions after just two semesters. In order to complete the certificate, students must enroll in AT-10, a new Intro to Automotive Technology course, taught by Mr. Kramer.

Mr. Kramer replaces longtime faculty member Michael Richards, who retired after twenty years of service to the CR Auto Tech program. He was instrumental in revitalizing the program and he will be greatly missed by both the college and their industry partners.

This guy will be a terrific asset to our region, if he lives up to his credentials. Good on you Bryan, for bringing the opportunities you offer to our children. You look like you might have an intense side to you, which you will probably need at the funny farm you’re going to be teaching at. Welcome and good luck.
