Meet Ranger Gagnon: EPD Releasing Series of Videos Introducing Members to the Community
Press release from the Eureka Police Department:
In an effort to provide greater insight into the Eureka Police Department (EPD) and the dedicated men and women who work here, EPD will be periodically releasing an ongoing series of short videos titled EPD in the Community.
The videos will profile a variety of EPD members and showcase the jobs they do and their perspectives on policing in our community. “We are law enforcement officers, but also so much more. We are members of this community too—mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters. It is my hope these videos will help ‘humanize the badge’ by informing the public about the amazing and caring people who work here on their behalf, who they are and what they do.” ~Chief Steve Watson
New videos will be posted periodically and hosted on the EPD YouTube channel titled “Eureka Police.” Videos will also be shared on our various social media pages.

The first video in the series features Ranger Dennis Gagnon. We think you will appreciate the compassion, care, and creative thinking Ranger Gagnon demonstrates as he protects and serves our community. Watch his video here:

one of the more useful Eureka Police officers.
Wish they were all like him
I second that, sounds like a good guy!
~third.
_Fourth!
My faith is restored.
Alright people, who’s chopping the onions in here? Knock it off.
Fifth.
THANK YOU, Ranger Gagnon.
Much respect to you, sir. Please keep up your exemplary work, and I truly hope your perspective and attitude become the standard in ALL of our law enforcement personnel.
I enjoyed the video on Ranger Gagnon. A great guy and an asset to the EPD. Look forward to more EPD videos. Gives great insight into their daily lives while on duty.
So glad that he is out on the bike path.
Would appreciate it if he was up patrolling between Samoa bridge and target more often.
Had some pretty scary run ins with transients up here and rarely see EPD compared to the Palco Marsh side of the trail.
Good luck Ranger Gagnon!
I met Dennis many years ago when he was a Coast Guard member. Except for the graying mustache and the glasses he is still Dennis from many years ago. I’ve talked with him on occasion on the Hikshari trail. He has always been a gentle soul with nerves of steel when he was asked to diffuse a bomb. Yes, he can do that! Few people know he was a Sheriff’s Deputy for a number of years before becoming a Ranger with the EPD. I have seen him in McKinleyville and in Garberville. He knows Humboldt County. And I am sure a number of people who play hide and seek with him on the trails are known to him. He would agree that his new position is just another expedition unknown.
Maybe the time and money spent making videos might be better spent actually helping the community?
Finally better’n a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.
Thanks EPD.
