Missing Oregon Woman’s Vehicle Found Near Avenue of the Giants

Cheyanne Dawn Clement

The family of a 25-year-old Oregon woman is searching frantically for Cheyanne Dawn Clement. The vehicle, a 1979 white Datsun pickup with a shell, that she and her boyfriend were driving was impounded from the Hooker Creek onramp near the south end of the Avenue of the Giants just a few days ago.

Cheyanne Dawn Clement and Donald Williamson

Cheyanne Dawn Clement and her boyfriend Donald Williamson whose whereabouts are unknown by Cheyanne’s family.

The couple had bought the pickup in July but hadn’t transferred ownership. The previous owner was notified by law enforcement of the impound and thus the family has broadened their search to Humboldt County, California.

Kathy Clement, her mother said that the last time they can confirm she was seen was July 10 by her brother. Her mother, who has Cheyanne’s daughter living with her is very worried. “Its been a month now since she has seen her kid…She hasn’t even posted on Facebook in a month. That is not like her.”

Cheyanne is 5’2, 130 pounds and is 25 years old.

If you have any information, please contact the La Grande Police Department at (541) 963-1017 and refer to case number 19-0773.

What about the boyfriend? When was the last time anyone heard from him?

Is her boyfriend missing as well? Why not post descriptions and good photos of both? Seems like it would increase the odds of someone recognizing one or both of them. Seems odd to omit that information.

Good luck Kathy… I hope she’s just out camping or staying with friends with no cell service and you find her soon. No matter what some of the commenters on this thread say there’s more good people in this area than not. This community is full of people that care and will help In whatever capacity they can, even for a stranger. Again, I really hope they are both found safe.

Uh, pretty sure she’s not your adopted daughter, the article said her mother’s name is Kathy. Also, if you want to do something effective then join Search and Rescue instead of closing your eyes and wishing someone else would find her.

Maybe she doesn’t live anywhere near here and it’s not possible for her to help search. I’m not a religious person myself but whatever helps somebody get thru a time like this is fine with me. Atleast she’s sending out positive thoughts, what are you doing? I do agree that there needs to be a search party going out where the vehicle was found ASAP. The truck could have broken down there or been dumped there but it’s a start

How swift is the river there right now? I was surprised at how fast the center channel on the eel is still moving in spots.
There have been so many missing folks found after accidents.
Highly doubt they left the truck there to go trim somewhere, that makes no sense.
The sheriffs ought to be checking the local camps to see if boyfriend is there.

How did it take so long for the chp to notice the truck? I saw it there around the 25/26 july. I always notice the datsuns as i used to travel in one. Great road trip rig.

Hope theyre found soon, to the family unfortunately your best bet is to hire a PI, our local law enforcement have a horrible track record with looking for folks.
Also put it out to the community to anyone walking near that stretch of river daily to keep an eye out.
Its a pretty odd spot to leave a rig.

I’m going to pray for this family and especially her child. Has her phone been pinged? Is law enforcement investigating? Our local law enforcement is actively searching. They are hero’s to many. Pray and stay vigilant. I and hopefully others will direct their energy toward prayer rather than wild speculation.

On the on ramp? Pretty strange. The frontage road that branches off at the base of the on ramp, going south, dead ends at a killer swimming hole. The gated off tunnel there is the entrance to the Hurlbut Ranch, thousands of acres of undeveloped ranchland. Question to ask: was the truck broke down or just parked?

That would take investigative work. Chances are it’s still in the impound lot and will be sold pennies on the dollar without HCSO taking a single peek at it. God! I hope I never go missing or show up randomly dead in this county, they just don’t care.

my first question is whether or not the truck is running? did they break down and hitch a ride or walk? If it was parked on the actual on ramp not just near the ramp that would be an odd place to park for a swim. Thoughts and prayers for their family.

The HCSO is way too busy working for the Franchise Tax Board to investigate this right now. The HCSO has a long track record of ignoring missing persons cases. I would hire a private investigator.

You may wonder, but those of us who live here know sheriff john brown and his crew arent going to think of these questions nor are they going to investigate them. They don’t give a care whatsoever.

This girl’s family will need to come over here and do it themselves or hire an investigator. They cannot rely on local law enforcement.

Well, I grew up near Hoopa. If someone went missing It would be days or even more to begin looking for anyone. The roads have no shoulders to pull over and the terrain is so dense. The sides of the edge of the road will drop straight down. Very hard to find anyone. Then, there are Bigfoot in the areas of H County. About 6 yrs ago I drove log trucks up in those mountains. When coming down off the mountain loaded with logs the log scaler called over the radio that there was a Bigfoot sighting. We were off the mountain and there were about 8 drivers stopped at the scales and were looking at pictures that 2 of the drivers had taken earlier in the day about 6 pm. It was true…Bigfoot is real! After that sighting for about 2 months there were biologists up in those mountains. The pictures I saw were put in their files and published in the Eureka paper.

I grew up in that area and the Elders of our tribe had many stories thru the decades about the Big Creature. I will pray for the young lady that is lost and put a shockrah in the moonlight.
God Bless

Firstly, many prayers and positive thoughts for the young lady.
Secondly, thank you for sharing your stories Ms. Larue. I read a military report from the early 1860’s that said that the Hupa would not ever fight at night because that is when Omah is out, showing how far back the Native experience with Bigfoot shows up in written history.

Wasted Sheriff Department Resources Year after year….. Simple point is Humboldt Sheriff Department does not have the sources to search for any missing persons, only resources for cannabis eradication; All of HCSO resources are spent going after “unpermitted cannabis gardens” even though cannabis is legal. Apparently the tax money increase by busting these unpermitted grows are more important than missing persons cases ( even though shops are closing and our communities are broke). S.S. Billy Honsal does not care about the people of our communities, or he would prioritize his agenda and work to solve the missing persons cases, homicides, kidnappings and home invasions. HCSO doesn’t care about their own community, and they certainly don’t care about outsiders. 20 to 30 deputies assigned to eradicating a legal plant every day and not one deputy assigned to missing persons, cold cases or homicide….. seems like the community needs to have an uproar but they wont because they have been desensitized into believing the violent assaults on our communities are ok and that the Sheriff has no time, this is complete bs and nothing could be further from the truth which is that our law enforcement resources including money and time have been wasted for over 40 years fighting a war against a plant and a culture which Humboldt has tried to squash using every tactic including home invasion and robbery against our neighbors and citizens…. shame on SS Honsal. Time to prioritize crime before we are all victims, it is already out of control and Billy Honsal does nothing at all to change his focus and priorities.

These crimes go unincvestigated and unsolved unless it is a person from a “conservative prominent family with connections” in the Sheriff Deaprtment. Sheriff Honsal refuses to prioritize real crimes over cannabis code violations. It is time for Sheroff Honsal to resign so we can begin to bhi ld a Sheriff Department which encompasses the community of Humboldt instead of waging a war against our citizenry and refusing to do real detective and investigative work. Shame on Billy Honsal, communities are suffering , families are hurtimg, do your job Billy or resign

Exactly, criminals can rest assured their deeds will go um noticed knowing all the resources are wasted on incriminating what are simple code violations…. 20 deputies or more at a time to enforce misdemeanor code violations is completely wasteful of our limited Sheriff Department resources while drug dealers, rapists, home invaders and burglars laugh all the way to the pawn shop and bank and our communities are looted and robbed by heroin zombies and meth heads by night. Open meth heroin and coke dealing in the bars all along the Highway 101 corridor from Ukiah to Eureka…. Bill Honsal needs to step up to the playt of reality and either grow a set of nuts and solve these missing persons and homicides cases… Meanwhile as they worry about code violations and asset forfeiture, murderers and rapists are still free on our streets to murder and rape and pillage…… good job Bill Honsal… Do your job Billy Honsal or Resign!!

@the folks who are anti sheriff

I get it, I’m in mendo, and our sheriff has a political side and a work side. I don’t know about corruption, I’m sure it exists here, but our sheriff and his deputies manage some very volatile situations and somehow they avoid shooting people to death. They do this quite often, much to my amazement because I do see how things typically play out in other places. I’ve seen a few stories where your sheriff and deputies have done the same. I’m simply glad they can do what they do, across very large swaths of land that they cover, and not a lot of people are being shot to death by them, as thinly stretched as they are.

Cheyanne is my Niece!
As I spoke with the Deputy this morning, He has walked the homeless camps, and has shown Cheyanne’s picture around in Garberville, No one has seen her! Also if you think you’ve seen Cheyanne or Donald it needs to be reported ASAP to both agencies. LaGrande PD @ 541-963-1017 and Humboldt Sheriffs 1-866-688-6160
Although, the deputy thinks they may have hitchhiked since the truck broke down off the highway, I asked him to go look for the surveillance video at the local bar where a local said they seen her on 8/4. Well see how far that gets me today!
