Then at 3:21 p.m., a fire and an explosion were reported on Airstrip Road about 15 miles away. The Incident Commander reported finding a fully involved structure with the fire spreading at a moderate to fast rate over an acre of vegetation. Locals are on the ground attempting to fight it.

How Lake county has suffered recently. It’s chilling to hear about this. I hope they get it under control fast.

Yes, we have suffered. Lake county may have a bad reputation, but the people here are REAL. We will always remember the fires and those who were lost.

Not to mention the tragedy that the realty aholes brought down on the county after all the fires. Ooh fire sale let me sell this property that used to be full of nature, old trees, antique cars, and peoples memories to a crew of brown dudes who don’t speak English to put a whole bunch of crap greenhouses up and pour a bunch of high test fert and water on it to make more fuel for the fire

>>>Have you heard about the new suffering we will soon endure? 42 -600+ ft wind turbines on BLM Walker ridge are the plan. I bet those things could throw some sparks.

It’s not time for lake county’s yearly fire yet, that usually in August.

Rolled through and it was out near as I could see at about 1700 hrs. As a Lake County resident, no we absolutely can not endure anymore fire destruction. Too many counties have obviously gone through this nightmare one too many times, in the last several years. Its going to take a ton of ingenuity, careful plans of vegetation clearing and precise implemented escape plans to make sure everyone remains safe when another disaster strikes. Hopefully not anytime soon and not to a huge magnitude. Prayers to all affected in this incident and may we all be safe.

I live on Rocky’s Road a little before airstrip and I felt the blast and another blast about 10 minutes later. I left my home very quickly and returned home safely but I am so sad about my neighbor dying in that explosion and my heart goes out to his family and relatives. I send my prayers.

The blast was from a leaking propane tank. The responders were so quick to get both fires under control it was amazing. Responders you have my deepest respect and God bless you. My home is still here.

I drove by the fire yesterday in lower lake. Definitely some idiot throwing cigarettes out of a window. Side of the road.

Maybe tobacco corporations should be partially held accountable when cigarettes thrown out of a car are determined to be a cause of a fire. Reasoning being the tobacco companies are the ones putting chemicals in their product that makes a cigarette burn at a constant rate and not just go out when not being puffed on. All you pot smokers out there; notice how when you get stoned, space out and not puff, and the joint goes out? Perhaps it’s time to keep the chemicals out of tobacco so it can do the same thing.

Two words: American Spirit. They even offer organic tobacco.

Properly cured bud in a properly rolled joint will burn for 30-60 seconds without a puff. No joke.

Dried buds run through a simple, inexpensive hand grinder will smoke much more uniformly. A coarse, even grind, like pipe tobacco will tend to burn like tobacco.

they used to use gunpowder or so i was told however a law was passes and they changed it so that now they do go out if not provided with a draw.

“Definitely”?

So, you were there? Do you have pics or video of this?

(A small fire this weekend by my place WAS caused by drunks with fireworks, not cigarettes).

If you have proof, please come forth!

Lake County has had a major fire every year since 2015 starting with the Valley Fire. I wonder when the last time that propane tank was inspected? They ARE supposed to have some kind of regulatory oversight (such as an annual inspection or certification) – for reasons such as this one – to prevent loss of life and property. The Valley Fire was caused by electrical wiring for a hot tub – all installed without a building/electrical permit.
