[UPDATE 10:31 p.m.] Fire Breaks Out Possibly Because Of Fireworks

Shortly after 9:30 tonight, multiple 911 calls reported a fire breaking out at Mad River County Park.

Incoming fire resources reported over the scanner, “From glow of fire, it appears to be about an acre.”
Arcata Fire department, Calfire and other fire resources are currently at the park making their way to the fire.

Humbolt County Sheriff Office was also requested to respond as it has been reported that multiple subjects where seen lighting fireworks in the area prior to the fire.

UPDATE 10:31 p.m.: Firefighters are just now reaching the main body of the fire which the Incident Commander reports is one to three acres. The wind is dying down and the fire’s progress is slowing. Forward progress on a fifty foot spot has been stopped. Tprogress has slowed wind died down.

Again a great firefighters are on the job we have great fighting fire departments in this area we’re very lucky I hope no one was injured it’s going to be a long summer people please be careful we all know what happened in the valley Last Summer
