[UPDATE 6:03 p.m.] Three Acre Wild Land Fire Burning South Of Pecwan at Mettah

A fire was reported south of Pecwan in northern Humboldt County. As of 4:30 p.m. it was reported as three acres with moderate rate of spread. Two air tankers, one helicopter and multiple Cal Fire equipment pieces are heading to or on scene currently. We will update as we hear more.

UPDATE 6:03 p.m.: The below image shows where the air attack plane is circling south of Pecwan. More resources are being sent to the fire as of 5:30 p.m.

Right by deweese Rock CDF right at the road from bald hills rd down Johnson’s road not far from there hopefully they get it out quick there’s a lot of fuel out there

Scary place for a fire – there’s a ton of thick brush, tan oak and other fuels in that area. I worked in all those creeks for years and always thought it’s a good thing it’s not lightning country, as that area could easily have a fire blow up and it would be a tough area to fight it.
