Debate Watching Parties with North Coast People’s Alliance

The following is a press release from North Coast People’s Alliance:

Laugh, snicker, scoff and learn at “Fun, Games & Lies,”

two back-to-back debate watching parties presented by the North Coast People’s Alliance (NCPA).

Yes, there will be beer.
Yes, there will be snark.
Yes, there will be real information and tools for separating glib garbage from meaningful

change.
Why watch the debates at home when you can play “Dodge and Spin Bingo” with NCPA,

then cast your ballots for “slimiest,” “most inspiring,” “least likely to become president” and much more?

The non-partisan NCPA, well-known for its seminars on how to run for local political office and for its free Voter Van, brings voter education with an attitude to these two free evenings, being held June 26 and 27 at the Savage Henry Comedy Club, an all-ages venue at 415 Fifth St. in Eureka. Co-sponsors are Centro del Pueblo and the Eureka Branch of the NAACP.

On both nights, doors open at 5 p.m., political satire begins at 5:30 (along with Dodge and Spin Bingo rules – a can’t miss!), and the televised debates will be broadcast from 6 to 8 p.m.

The North Coast People’s Alliance organizes for social justice, economic justice and environmental justice, with an emphasis on empowering everyday people to get involved in local politics and civic affairs.

We are not affiliated with any political party, and we will not endorse any presidential candidate before these two events. Instead, we are preparing two evenings packed with resources for savvy candidate watching.

“We’ll highlight some sneaky debate tricks you might see, and you’ll leave with a list of resources for staying alert, aware and hype-resistant during the 2020 presidential campaign,” saidCaroline Griffith, chair of the NCPA Steering Committee.

Admission is free, but donations are welcome to support NCPA’s work. We’ll supply savory vegetarian and omnivore treats until we run out, and Savage Henry’s refreshment crew will be selling beer, hard sparkling water, non-alcoholic beverages and snacks.

Love this idea, but can’t attend on either night? Visit our website,www.northcoastpeoplesalliance.org, to donate in support of educational events like these, and to find resources for local political action and informed voting.

The NCPA organizes for social justice, economic justice and environmental justice but they’re non partisan??? Riiiiight. Kinda like how Lenin and Stalin weren’t all that bad except for that pesky genocide thing. Fuck Communist scum!

Rollin, now come on, that is just a little harsh, don’t you think? Okay, so, the non-partisan thing? Right, who are they trying to kid? But does it bolster your argument to drag out the names of Lenin and Stalin? Also, the filthy language and the smear tactics (“F– Communist scum!”) are just way out of line and uncalled for. God gave us the power to reason, so use it. Teh . . .

You had me until you brought the supernatural into this. Did “god” give us the ability to reason so that we can see the notion of “god” is not reasonable? And I assume you’re talking about Zeus.

I make no apologies for calling communists scum. They are scum. This ideology is responsible for the death of at least tens of millions. No one would care if I called a Nazi scum and the Nazi’s could only dream of the atrocities that communism achieved, so why the double standard?

And yes, the examples of Lenin, who leftists constantly defend, and Stalin who they claim is different, bolster my argument completely. Look at hmm’s comment below. He made my case, as the left invariably does, by defending Lenin. Economic justice is nothing more than a tacit endorsement of Communism. Once these SCUM are completely comfortable with the term socialism, it will be a matter of time until they are completely comfortable advocating communism, distinctions without differences as far as I’m concerned. People like me that don’t agree get smashed in the head with bike locks and called Fascist. How do you reason with that?

Would you prefer the wording to say non Democrat and non Republican?

No the wording should be partisan, since the or does not strictly refer to supporters of a particular political party. They are absolutely partisan, and what people are calling “far left”. Which oddly is very authoritarian, just like he far right.

Lenin may have been taking some misguided stabs at communism but Stalinism was about as far removed from communism as it gets.

Here is some basic background for those failed by the education system or brain washed by McCarthyism,

Stalin, Lenin, Mao, Castro, Bernie, all bad, Socialism and communism are very evil, have killed 100 million plus in the last 100 years. Your stupid commie teachers have lied to you. Capitalism rules supreme. Communism is slavery, capitalism is freedom. Socialism sucks, bad.

Are you sure it wasn’t a billion? A bazillion? A godzillion? I mean, if you’re going to be making up numbers, why not go all the way?

Your comment is a good example of “Holocaust Denial.”

Thank you hmm for making my case. Invariably some dumbass will always come out and defend Lenin which was the point of my comment, and exactly what you did. Lenin was responsible for the death of tens of thousands while Stalin was responsible for tens of millions; a distinction without a difference. The lesson people like you FAIL to learn OVER and OVER is that this is how central control, socialism, communism always eventually ends. You people love to quibble over semantics, when in fact, they are all distinctions without a difference. Had Lenin been in power longer he would have achieved the same numbers as Stalin. And in typical liberal fashion, the irony of your “failed education system” comment completely escapes you. The “failed” education system is socialism, central control. Maybe if Lenin were running things it would be better, DERP!

It’s just a bunch of people getting together to mass debate!

It’s not about the isms, the poly tick circus, or the corporate cronies paper laws. The people must act in unity with one common goal until the standard is in place and not allow ourselves to be distracted (or killed), by the foxes.

Is there a charge for coming to the debate party?
Open to non-members of the groups hosting it?
