Woman Arrested for Allegedly Stealing Truck and Work Equipment

[Yesterday] at about 3:45pm, a Fortuna resident reported that he briefly when inside and when he returned, his truck, trailer, and miscellaneous lawn maintenance equipment had been stolen.
At about 5:00pm, an Officer with the Fortuna Police Department located the vehicle traveling in the area of Palmer Boulevard and Highway 101. Officers conducted a high risk traffic stop and arrested the driver Amanda Jones (age 29 of Fortuna). Jones was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Faculty for possession of stolen property and probation violation. Jones is currently on probation for theft.

It is amazing your ability to see political affiliations by the clothes people wear or perhaps their smile? I have yet to develop that ability. When I look at you, I assume that such a community oriented person with that great smile must be intelligent enough to vote against Trump but sigh…alas…My ability to read political affiliation is dull. It doesn’t say if the vehicle was left running. But man I have seen so many people lately that in public leave their vehicles double parked, running. Or just parked with windows down and running. Is it really that hard to shut a vehicle off these days?
The amount of thefts related to opportunity have only been going up, yet people keep leaving vehicles running and accessible.
I leave my vehicle running on hot days if my dogs are inside. But I have a remote start and as soon as any door is open the engine is killed. I still figure someday a tweaker will break a window trying to get in thinking they can drive off in it though.
