We work with Ray Hamill of HumboldtSports.com to bring you local sports. Below we share a teaser and a link to his stories for easy access. Here’s the intro to Hamill’s story about how South Fork High School’s baseball and softball teams won their NCS semifinals Wednesday. The boys won 7-1 and the girls won 13-3.

The Cubs are headed back to the North Coast Section Division-VI championships, in both baseball and softball.

On Wednesday evening, both South Fork teams took care of business in their respective semifinals at home, with each advancing to this weekend’s championship games for the second straight year.

Both also are seeded No. 1 in their brackets, giving them the added advantage of a home game for the championship on Saturday.

In baseball, South Fork defeated San Francisco Waldorf 7-1, improving to 14-6 and setting up a championship showdown against No. 2 seed Credo.

In softball, the Cubs took care of No. 4 Emery 13-3 and appear to be peaking at an opportune time.

“I’m just really proud of the girls,” head coach Lisa Todd said. “They’re really working together and it’s starting to tell.”

Remember both teams play Saturday at South Fork with boys starting at 1:00 playing Credo and girls starting at 2:00 playing Laytonville.
