A man was reported to be injured after a hit and run in Eureka about 6:15 tonight, according to the scanner.

Bryan Hall, Executive Director of the Eureka Rescue Mission confirmed that one of the residents of the Men’s Shelter was injured. Hall told us, “[M]y manager said one of our clients was a few blocks away from the mission and was hit by a car and the car left.” Hall explained, “Apparently the injuries are not too bad because he made his way to the shelter.”

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

Lack of care for others… You should be ashamed of yourself for hitting another person and leaving them for dead or maimed, oh but you don’t care… Nothing to teach a a$$h0le like you. If you don’t care for others when you are old enough to drive, you needed to have learn it when you were young. Just so you know (if your selfish a$$ is on this site), you lack empathy for others. Hard for me to have empathy for you, but I do… Your parents, your community, your school, your friends must have really denied you the love and attention it takes for someone to learn/feel empathy.

Or you were drunk or high on drugs, you held not getting busted higher than the person you hurt or could have killed. Sad.

I have to agree with you. What happened to peoples sense of morality and humanity? I couldn’t imagine hitting someone and taking off.

Unfortunately people’s sense of morality and humanity have always been spotty. I’m always glad when I see it in people.

Take the time to think back, there’s never been a time where all humans have been good. The main issue today is overpopulation means that there’s that many more bad people. It could be the same percentage as before but 10% of 2 billion is less than 10% of 8 billion.

maybe you should spent some time in old town to get a better perspective. I have had individuals put both their hands on my hood before, twice after jumping out in front of me and basically assaulting my vehicle. one of them was the Scottish guy wearing the kilt that was really just a piece of canvas and that guy in his own category. if I was a 20 something female, I would probably not stop. not condoning it, it just is what it is.

I have to concur with Observer. Eureka has several areas where the homeless congregate that as a driver you need to always be watching for pedestrians that will purposely walk in front of and/or into your vehicle.

Buster,

have slowed so much, I’m at about 2 miles per hour.

Some deliberately are trying some scam by jumping out at cars and then standing in the road.

But I still don’t hit them.

Thanks.

Local,
does he have red hair? Last year a red headed guy was about to attack my parked car so I drove off, and he was chasing my car!

He also uses a skateboard and tries to run you over with it when you come out of the store.

Despite that experience I still slow down for them, but understand what you’re saying.

Thanks.

he had red hair and full red beard but I haven’t seen him in 2 years or so. he was the only homeless person wearing a kilt that I have ever seen.

Misfire,

the description is accurate.

Where groups of transients gather,
historically some have attacked parked cars.

Those commenting are trying to come up with ways to keep everyone safe.

There’s 2 sides to every coin, and I didn’t witness the incident … which side? One thing I remember from years ago,[T]his Country was better than those 3rd world armpits because USA held respect for human life!! But population grew exponentially and TV movies desensitized the generations. No answers here

Kym, do you know how high our hit and run stats are compared to other counties? I know Cali was highest in the nation recently but can’t find county data.

I used to live in the county and I don’t ever remember as many vehicular fatalities as there are now. Hwy 36 is russian roulette and the section of freeway north of Weott is still claiming lives. Confusion Hill is lethal. Looks like it’s worth your life to even walk in Eureka now.

That sounds right, but I believe Eureka is at the top of the list for hit and runs for a city its size in California, as well as few other list toppers regarding (un)safe streets. The state has a database on it.

If driving in that area they need to slow down for those people.

If they don’t want to get out they can still call 911.

That’s still a person.

Saw somebody driving the wrong way today.

Earlier saw somebody else driving the wrong way down a one way on a different street.

Both in Eureka.

Peace.
