[UPDATE 10 a.m.: Now Open With Delays] Hwy 299 Closed Due to Slide
A slide has closed Hwy 299 between mile markers 29.09 and 33.21 west of the junction with Hwy 96 and Willow Creek.
Caltrans District 1 reports, “There is no estimated time for reopening. Crews are onsite and will better evaluate the situation now that it is getting light outside.”
The CHP Traffic Incident Information Page shows that the slide came down a little after 2 a.m. today. As of 6:30 a.m., the page reports that the roadway won’t be open for “3-4 hours.”
UPDATE 8:50 a.m.: Caltrans reports, “State Route 299 is open with one-way controls. Motorists should anticipate 30-45 minute delays through 6pm tonight.”

Yikes, this sucks!
Hope the folks in Hoopa and Willow Creek are safe!
I don’t think the slide was that big.
Wild fire is my biggest concern for that area
