New Deputy District Ranger Selected for Willow Creek Office

The following is a press release from the Six Rivers National Forest:

Six Rivers National Forest Supervisor Ted McArthur announced that Roberto Beltran was recently selected as deputy district ranger for the Lower Trinity, Orleans and Ukonom Ranger Districts. “Roberto’s worked on these districts for a number of years. He knows the land, the people and the communities,” said McArthur. “I know he will succeed in this new challenge.”

A Humboldt County native, Roberto went to Humboldt State University (HSU) as a history major. By the beginning of his second year, he added forestry as a second major. He graduated from HSU in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Bachelor of Science in Forestry.

While attending HSU, he worked two summers for the Oregon Department of Forestry. He began his career as a forester on the Six Rivers in May 2005, on the Orleans and Ukonom Ranger District. “I am so grateful to everyone that had a hand in showing me the ropes when I started on the Six Rivers,” he said. “Their mentorship was invaluable. They challenged me and helped me learn various aspects of on-the-ground work.”

As a forester on the Six Rivers, Roberto is committed to responsible, practical landscape restoration and management through engagement with local communities and stakeholders. He has been a part of interdisciplinary teams on a wide variety of projects—from reforestation, timber stand improvement, commercial thinning and fuels reduction projects, to landscape restoration and recreation enhancement projects. He has also served as a resource advisor on large fires over the past 7 years—from initial attack to the end-of-suppression, including post-fire activities.

Roberto is a Registered Professional Forester in California.
