Big Rig Overturned on 101 Near Ridgewood Summit Blocking One Lane

overturned semi icon featureA semi overturned around mile marker 40 on Hwy 101 south of the Ridgewood Summit between Ukiah and Willits just after 8 p.m.

The truck is on its side blocking one southbound lane.

Both the driver and the passenger are out of the vehicle.

Glad the driver and passenger are safe. Caused by speed, lack of attention, mechanical failure, etc. Can’t blame the driver until the facts are known.

Southbound is steep one lane (much of it two lane going uphill) – at night in light rain, would be easy to get a little fast, too much brake on one of the sweeper turns – boom!
Daytime when it’s dry is kind of a fun stretch to groove with – night in the rain, not so much.
Be careful out there.

Drove by the scene last night. It was really rough driving thru that particular section. Rain, fog, and darkness. The wreck looked pretty bad. Lucky no fatalities..
